thats left me wondering this whole time which will be considered gods and which will be considered summonable creatures.

i know he mentioned carby being summonable, but what about Odin, bahamut, and the rest?

unfortunately im afraid were only going to get summons that greatly resemble average beasts such as: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Summons

    Mindflayer
    Catoblepas
    Cait Sith
    Quetzalli
    Midgardsormr (its just a snake!)

Bahamut and Odin are most likely like the other major primals : Ifrit, Titan, Shiva, etc.

But, forgive me if I'm wrong, didn't they say that the primals could be summoned by Free Companies somehow? Er, I only read a bit about that part, so I may be mistaken.

    yep your right.
im afraid SMN is going to be aesthetically a beast master. with the only difference being the name of the job and perhaps some battle mechanic tweaks as to where SMN and BST have had almost nothing in common in the entire franchise, other than theyre both pet classes.

Yes Yoshida did say free companies could summon a Primal gods but only 1 company per server could claim the Primal so say if my company got Ifrit no one could summon him till my company summoned him.

I think this should be backed up with proof. I do not remember the company exclusivity at all.

Odin is said to be roaming, if you played this far into FFXI remember how Odin's avatar roamed the countryside near Aht Urhgan as the 'Dark Rider' whom randomly cast Death on players lol. He stated there will be lesser summons, but the primals that are introduced (and will be) won't be summons for personal use and yeah, 1 can exist only at a time and it'll change the environment. So whichever company has the pact with it will be the only one on the server to summon it.

Free Company. He's not talking about Grand Company. Free Company is something to be implemented later. Also, yes, this information is correct.

The information is just at the tip of your fingers. These interviews are not hard reads. Check them out: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...d-the-world%21

I'm gonna vote for "Pet Class + Debuff".

This opens up many questions for me, like when Yoshi-P talks about "Thief". Wouldn't Thief make sense as a SECOND job option for Pugilist instead than a new Class? Not talking about the near future of course, but in the remote future (after 2.0) it doesn't seem particularly illogical for a single class to have multiple job options.
What's the development team's stance on this?
