i don't think you understand a gil sink. you buy the item from someone and they do get your gil, but you get their gear so gil does stay in the game with the gear. you attempt to attach multiple materias and blow up the gear, but the multiple pieces of materia. that removes 3 pieces of gear from the game. you spend the gil to buy it a second time and you have less gil than before. i've spent millions on the same piece of gear trying to get it double melded.

If you buy gear from a player then you have less gils, but the amount of gils in the game is the same.
If you use a real gil sink, like airship, the gils are out of the game.

that, my friend, is the exact definition of a gil sink. you do not give the gear to the npc losing money over what you spent, but you blow up the gear and materia and have nothing at all to show for it.

I didn't say to give the npc the gear. I said to give the npc the gils.
