If they do not reduce gil in any matter then how do you foresee future gear playing out? There is already too much gil in the system with only materia melding to reduce it. That alone isn't enough and with dropped gear not being able to hold materia, exception sentinel, the RMT will be making super bank off new players coming out.
I actually enjoy the game currently. I was only voicing a concern XD. This is why I said I knew I would catch a lot of hate from other players.
Materia melding is a gil sink?
Materia melding is not a gil sink. It don't destroy gils. Unless you buy the equip from npc and not from retainer/another player.
A real gil sink is if you give the gils a npc and not another player.
SE can just bring new classes for this problem. Then the veteran have something again with level 1 ^^It's something that's been bothering me too. I'm afraid that without the support of veteran players to help new players along in 2.0, a lot of newbies might get discouraged and quit. It's going to be a hard game of catch up for them, and things like market inflation due to veterans with large sums of gil is going to be a stumbling block for new players. Couple this with the fact that in a year's time many players will have leveled all of what they wanted to the cap, and you'll have low level players who have no one to play with. You can see this happening already, as the exp rates are so high. You have people shouting for a party in uldah, and the higher level the party is, the faster it fills up. This is because most people have already leveled up past the low levels and therefore have no jobs to play at the lower levels. It's going to get to the point where low level players won't be able to find anyone to play with because everyone is already done leveling.
Sure new players can play with each other, but in that case you're going to have a rift in the community between pre-2.0 and post-2.0 players. That is something that I think SE needs to address.

i don't think you understand a gil sink. you buy the item from someone and they do get your gil, but you get their gear so gil does stay in the game with the gear. you attempt to attach multiple materias and blow up the gear, but the multiple pieces of materia. that removes 3 pieces of gear from the game. you spend the gil to buy it a second time and you have less gil than before. i've spent millions on the same piece of gear trying to get it double melded.Materia melding is a gil sink?

that, my friend, is the exact definition of a gil sink. you do not give the gear to the npc losing money over what you spent, but you blow up the gear and materia and have nothing at all to show for it.

If you use a real gil sink, like airship, the gils are out of the game.
I didn't say to give the npc the gear. I said to give the npc the gils.that, my friend, is the exact definition of a gil sink. you do not give the gear to the npc losing money over what you spent, but you blow up the gear and materia and have nothing at all to show for it.

when you buy items from me the gil is still in the game. when i blow it up the gear/gil leaves the game. no matter how you look at it things leave the game.

A gil sink is intended to combat inflation by removing gil from the game. By taking gil out of the game, you decrease the ratio of gil to items, thus keeping the rate of inflation down.i don't think you understand a gil sink. you buy the item from someone and they do get your gil, but you get their gear so gil does stay in the game with the gear. you attempt to attach multiple materias and blow up the gear, but the multiple pieces of materia. that removes 3 pieces of gear from the game. you spend the gil to buy it a second time and you have less gil than before. i've spent millions on the same piece of gear trying to get it double melded.

The scenario you describe has the opposite effect- it increases the ratio of gil to items in the game, thereby increasing the rate of inflation.
not once you take into account during the selling of the same item multiple times you are removing gil. i know some people don't realize, but you do have taxes. each time you blow up an item you take 5% of the price you paid out of the market.A gil sink is intended to combat inflation by removing gil from the game. you make item and i buy it for 100k
gil leaves the game from taxes.
i blow up the item and buy another for 100k
i pay taxes again so more gil goes out of the game.
you do that many times for each item and you do remove gil from the game.
it's not as fast as people would like, but it doesn't change the fact that it does leave.

I don't see the issue. The people with the most money are typically going to be the first ones to buy it, usually at a pretty high price that others can't or won't pay for it. Same thing with me and the Cobalt gear when it first came out. I only had about 2mil when 1.19 hit and I wasn't willing to shell out half a mil per piece of gear. I waited a couple weeks and it dropped a lot and that's when I picked it up. My dated iron gear served me fine until then and if they for some reason release new armor this patch (I hope they don't) my Sentinel gear will last me long enough until I can upgrade. If they do not reduce gil in any matter then how do you foresee future gear playing out? Although I hear and understand your concerns, I don't agree with any of them. I think that these are terrible ideas that would enrage the folks that have played this game since launch.
