I do not think so, There is no reason games in the late 90's and early 00's should be outperforming a modern game in its second expansion in 2018.
This system is downright unacceptable with the money we give them. They do not put enough money back in the game, that is why we have this nonsense.
It seems you've misunderstood me then. I was pointing out that other "current" games are still having similar problems but in different areas.
The system has shortcomings, we should ask to have them corrected. Limited space, limited plates and limiting areas for implementation, inability to directly apply to certain NPC's we control. Most of these have promises to be fixed. I hope SE follows through on those.
However for this game it is working and it isn't a bad system once you've learned it.
I'm not sure what you mean by outperforming, but FFXIV is one of the prettiest games I have played and I keep coming back to it for the world they've created. Aesthetically and technically I enjoy all the characters and locales. Story wise I care about most of the NPC's I've been introduced to and I enjoy the gameplay (IMPORTANT) as well. These are the most important things to me. This is what I PAY for and what I expect to be payed attention to when I play a RPG.
You're constantly harping on how this one system , that works well even if it's a little complex and not as robust as it needs to be for everyone, should catch up and we need to raise torches and crucify them because goshdarnit we are paying for this stuff and this is UNACCEPTABLE! (oh god I hate that word. 16 years in customer service made me HAAAATE that word).
I disagree. Wholeheartedly I disagree.
I've been playing this game for 8 years and slowly but surely they have been improving it.
There have been failures (1.0, diadem) and badly implemented ideas (abuseable limited housing) . But I'm not seeing the irredeemable part of this particular addition and nothing you have said has even made me think twice.
If anything, actually getting hands on it has assuaged many fears I DID have.
