Do you only do each fight once? If not the fight is ruined the 2nd time you run it

Yeah but generally there is something called progression, meaning even if you farm some bosses there are more to be taken down you never saw. And that's what is driving players such as the op forward.
If, hypothetically, a raid of 10 bosses is implemented and you take down 1 new boss per week (typical rate of progression of wow raids back in the day), then you ll be going on for 10 weeks before running out of new stuff to see.
If you were to run normal mode on first day and kill the 10 bosses in easy mode in one day (typical rate of progression of modern wow), then you end up spending X weeks on bosses on the harder difficulty modes you already saw on the first day. Thus ruining the progression feeling and the drive to do the whole thing right from the beginning.

Uhh... not really. If that's really true then there's no need to even play savage considering it's exactly the same as normal mode. This one run will spoiler me my savage experience almost entirely, that is my problem.
IMO they should just unlock both NM and Savage in the story quests and you can choose what difficulty you'd like to do to progress through it (giving you a free clear on NM if you clear Savage).
It's not like this would affect queues, people who'd jump straight into Savage only run the NM encounters once anyway and then just use crafted gear, people who do it multiple times for gear now would still need to do it if a system like that was in place.
So basically, we cant have nice things because Lore?-_- That's always the weakest excuse, it would be the typical SE answer though if you would ask them about this.
You could experience the same story with both difficulties, I don't see a problem there, the problem is just made up. I don't need an lore explanation why it is believable that there are extreme/savage/ultimate versions in this world.
The old coils were more like savage and the coil savage closer to ultimate. Then we got a downgrade with the next raids, they didn't have to put the old system on it, but they did. Just use the bard for ultimate or the minstrel ballad ultima/thordan/shinryu type content only, so he has still a purpose.
To have content where you can expect something new to happen is so rare anyway, I'm glad that some agree that it takes out the enjoyment/destroys the purpose of pure progression groups.
The whole spoiler argument kind of goes right out the window since in order to do any savage content you're expected to watch a video detailing the fight anyway. I mean unless that has changed but I thought it was the general mindset that to do savage content you need to already be familiar with the mechanics of the fight.
Maybe it's because the game prides itself on having some of the deepest lore in multiplayer gaming? Have you thought about that? Lots of player only here for the story and lore.
Let me know when you find a day 1 guide of the savage encountersThe whole spoiler argument kind of goes right out the window since in order to do any savage content you're expected to watch a video detailing the fight anyway. Ooook, so, history lesson: Casual players complain Coil is too hard and they're getting left out of the story. Yoshida listens to those players and releases a "dumbed down" version of the same fight so casuals can get their story while raiders can get their raid fight and loot with Savage. Savage IS designed as the same fight with updated mechanics and harder heal/dps/tank checks (then players suck and demand these be dumbed down as well...).
In short: we already have Savage so a greater number of players can clear the side story content and maybe get an interest in raiding. If you really don't wanna have the fight "spoiled" just get a group to carry your body thru normal, it's not like the fights are hard, anyway.
