Again, Gigi says hi. Essentially a robot, and one that demonstrates emotion without a full human face to boot. Kinda like the rather featureless lalas we have running around now. Despite the fact they would be the RL equivalent of a 2d chibi anime character brought to life in the 3d real world we still have them.

There was a human-size version of those in Final Fantasy IX and they look ugly af.

The only thing limiting them is their imagination and what they're willing to do.

Last time they used "their imagination" we got Lupin(Highlander with dog/wolf face?) and Koujin(TMNT ripoff?). -cough-
I don't believe that SE will come up with something good or unique in terms of races, especially robot-like race.

TL;DR Viera looks like a safe bet for them, honestly.
