Locked out of future MSQ progression?

This quest is a bit different from most MSQ battles in that it has a fail condition that isn't made any easier by the Echo boost you get from repeated losses.

Maybe they could have the Echo also provide a run speed increase to make the orbs easier to deal with?

As someone who raids savage on a weekly basis, I'll admit the last few groups of orbs made me sweat, so I can understand how less skilled players could feel overwhelmed by it.
