Plus Echo may be coming, if I know my FFXIV patterns. <_<I really disagree about wasting resources on "hardcore" players. This game is almost casual and if you compare content is easy to tell. Also in SB not even Savage is full hardcore, a casual player like myself can clear up to OS2 with randoms no problem and if you have patience you can also be carried in OS3 and OS4 by gear in 4.1 since upgrading creation gear is going to be a thing.
Just because you don't consider it content doesn't mean everyone else does. Many players are very interested in housing and furnishing. Its just such a shame that not everyone is able to explore it because of limited slots.
Like someone else said it's a feature, I have a house myself it's a nice feature. My character has hair to and I like the new hairstyle will get it, but that's just a qol feature. Just like all the stuff for sale on the mogstation.
You don’t have to be 99th percentile or world first to do Ultimate Savage; you only need to have the skill to clear it. That isn’t the same as 99th percentile parses, a lot of which are padded and catered to, so they cannot be an accurate representation of a player’s skill. But content built for world first players is a waste, look at how much smaller the parse numbers for v3s compared to v2s. Then look at the neo exdeath numbers, meaning the it's plenty of people having issues with 3 and 4 already. Which the devs already stated. So what's the justification behind something ten times harder? There is none especially to bring this out when the new stuff that's coming out was already expected anyway. Has nothing to do with me being upset. To the average player nothing was given, but the best raiders not raiders alone get the most original new content of this patch.
Parse samples for V3S and V4S are smaller than the samples for V1S and V2S because there is a massive jump in difficulty between V2S and V3S. People can be carried by (for lack of a better term) “average” players in the first two floors; it’s not easy to carry people after that. You have to actually know what you’re doing. And even then, Omega Savage is not close to the difficulty of Gordias or Midas Savage, even if they were considered “overtuned.”
This game is massively built around the casual playerbase. But the minute something is released for the raiders that want more challenging content, it’s deemed a “waste of resources.” Not everything has to be catered to the casual crowd in this game. Raiders may be a very small percentage of the playerbase, but there are many small percentages. The game as a whole favors the more casual/midcore players. Let the hardcore ones that want a challenge have one for once. There will be plenty of “midcore”/“content for the average player” released during the rest of this expansion, and any future ones.
As for Patch 4.1 content, while I personally feel like there could have been more (sad that Eureka was delayed until 4.2, but hopefully this means it will be built upon well, and won’t be Diadem 3.0), there is still enough to make do—it’s not like the devs are only releasing Ultimate. There is a new Expert Dungeon (casual playerbase), Ivalice 24-man raid (casual playerbase), Shinryu Ex (midcore/average playerbase—especially since the devs stated it will not be as hard as Thordan Ex was in 3.1), Housing (yes, that is content—SE did not leave the definition of “content” for you to define), with Housing will probably comes more crafting recipes (also “content”), and the usual glamour/new hairstyles (again, still considered “content”). Not to mention, new MSQ to do.

Well, I will let you know that I don't have any intention of ever doing savage (so ultimate is right out), I have never done an EX trial (maybe I will someday, maybe not), I don't PvP at all, I don't own a house or apartment or even a room in my fc)... I play the game to craft. What is something that is getting not much (if anything besides deliveries)? DING DING DING. Crafting. Yet, for some reason I am not here saying there is no new content being added? Huh. Imagine that.
I don't have to participate, or even want to participate, in something to realize that other people like it.

I didnt say it wasn't content the new special never done before content was given to 99 percentile raiders. While everyone else got qol stuff and stuff that already was coming out anyway. Squadrons are such a let down , five dungeons is a joke really hope they improve the system over time. And the PvP stuff is cool. My point was we lost something but only thing that was gained in 4.1 that's the brand new content is for the best raiders in the game
Probably skipped over my first post, but allow me to reiterate: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE 99TH PERCENTILE—WHICH IS COMPOSED OF (USUALLY) HEAVILY PADDED AND CATERED TO PARSES, NOT MAKING THEM A DIRECT REFLECTION OF PLAYER SKILL—TO CLEAR OR GAIN ACCESS TO ULTIMATE. YOU ONLY HAVE TO HAVE THE SKILL TO CLEAR IT. WHICH IS, AGAIN, SOMETHING NOT EXCLUSIVE TO 99TH PERCENTILE OR WORLD FIRST RAIDERS.I didnt say it wasn't content the new special never done before content was given to 99 percentile raiders. While everyone else got qol stuff and stuff that already was coming out anyway. Squadrons are such a let down , five dungeons is a joke really hope they improve the system over time. I think what bswpayton is getting at is that housing and hairstyle are Cosmetic Content, while the game is currently lacking in relevant Gameplay Content and what gameplay content we do get is a repeat/clone of older gameplay content. (Relevant doesn't have to be specific to only the 5% of raiders, it can be things like PotD or Diadem when they first came out)
