Except, there are plenty child NPC's...This have nothing to do with morality or anything of the sort. We don't get to play children simply because it's not the sort of game where a child saves the world. It's a different design. There are games with playable characters being children and there are no such problems...but it's simply that they are designed with child main characters to begin with. Heck, there were Final Fantasy titles with playable children...

As for the child NPC from marriage, it may be cause they simply didn't think of that...or just cause they think it's unnecessary/a waste of resources. They may not be particularly against it. Just that they're not particularly for it.

As for those talking about it not being a life simulator/sims...I hope you never bought a house/appartament/guild house or any housing items. If you did, then you are simply hypocrites. Fact is that this game have some (extremely limited but...) life simulator options. They are simplified, but that's what the original poster asks for. A "token" character to symbolise the marriage past the wedding and the rings.

There are children, but what can you do with them? You can click on them, get a text bubble and that is all.

SE wont add them as retainer type of characters, because people might dress them up in a certain way, do stuff that might bring bad press to SE, so to avoid they limit our interaction with them. I am always a supporter of more content and if SE wants to add interactable children to the game, I will support it, just like how I support your suggestion. But this question has been asked before (both a child as a retainer type or playable child/teen avatar and both times Yoshida said in a Q&A that, because of legal reasons they wont add these features to this game.

I wish you alot of luck, but children in mmorpg is one of those things that companies rather avoid, because of the mess that it can bring.

It's not my suggestion, and I won't even be affected by it.

And it's Square Enix that decised what can be done with the NPC's. There is no reason why they would make risky clothes for them if they don't want them to be fitted with risky clothes, right?! I'm going to say that if Yoshida did say that, it was more of an excuse to prevent people from asking for something that he personally doesn't feel like adding to the game cause he doesn't care about it. I noticed that in terms of FFXIV that strategy is used extremely often, for basically everything. Either that it's "hardcoded" and the "engine doesn't allow it"...or that there are legal issues with it. These two arguments are used for even the smallest things that are absolutely no issue.
