I stand corrected then. Although given FFXI is virtually on life support now and they're basically giving formerly long sort after items away for basically nothing now (via the monthly login rewards - I got a Joyuese and completed my AF 2 sets for several Jobs from the rewards from one such event for instance), it's clear the bare bones development team for FFXI simply does not consider things like consistency in Job appearance as important anymore. Signs a game is in it's Indian Summer. (Incidentally I'm really sorry if it looks like I'm bashing FFXI here, I love FFXI and treasure my 13+ years I've played it, it's just I don't try to hide my preference for FFXIV over FFXI).

Hence you will not see that here - FFXIV is still in it's prime, and as I have mentioned previously Yoshi stated long ago why gear is restricted to Job here in FFXIV (and thus so is glamour), to him the image of a Job is just as important as it's role and abilities, hence the restrictions on what gear can be worn by what Job. And it is not going to change. That's the reality of the situation, accept it or not, it's not something SE are going to alter.

    Yeah I agree

It's one thing to disagree with another person's ideals and respect it. And it's another thing to force them to change their ideals just because you disagree with them.
A lot of the people that want job/class gear unlocked need to learn basic respect for other's opinions. The dev's opinion is that they value classes/jobs looking in specific ways.

I personally disagree with that idea but I respect it
More people need to learn respect

Hopefully they can start adding gear that isn't Artifact gear into gold saucer, specially leveling gear or old gear that doesn't need to be locked anymore.

SE isn't just some individual expressing an opinion. It's a company producing a product for us - the customers. It has zero to do with "respecting" opinions and everything to do with customers informing a business what they would like to see in the product.

You're one customer. Sorry but YOUR OPINION is noted but it isn't the only opinion. I'll go on the record as not wanting AF gear unlocked. I think different roles should look different and I get the feeling SE feels the same way.

Has there been disrespect? I really haven't glanced much more than a skim on the other pages, but I don't think there was any on page 4.

Keep in mind that disrespect is not a simple matter of argument nor a manner of shutting down an argument (since it is possible to respectfully do so). People rightly state reasons behind their thoughts and those reasons are a matter of argument. It's the reasons that can often be either closed minded on one or both sides, irrational, or just outright wrong. The idea is usually not the problem, it's the reasoning. If it really came down to it, an irrational reasoning really would just get a pass by simply acknowledging said irrationality and/or just saying it's a matter of personal preference.

Not saying that's the case here, but I don't think there's really too much of a ground to stand on in terms of job integrity. Assuming the devs are still holding onto that perspective today as the only reason. I mean...

I really don't think anyone can claim job consistency or lore as a valid excuse as to why glamours are so restrictive in XIV. Sure, if we didn't have people clad in bikinis, and emperor's clothing, and chicken suits, reindeers, snowmen running around all over, you may have an argument to work around. But XIV is so full of things that make no sense, and don't hold to lore, and break immersion. Fan service is huge in this game. Do Yokai characters really fit in the world of Eorzea? Should we have Lightning running around the lands somehow? I don't see how letting people mix and match armor sets is really going to offend or take away whatever it is XIV is trying to go for.
