I do what I want.
I do what I want.
No, I am somewhat winning. I'm still gaining exp. When they change to their multiple 50's, they are only wasting their own time. I'm still gaining exp
I always try to be polite and cede the area to the other group if they were there first for all content, unless it is an obvious contested mob like HNM in XI were (as far as I know there is nothing like that in XIV at the moment due to short respawn and variety of content).
However that being said I have 2 speeds, polite and "I will crush you" depending on how others react and act towards me.
And I will crush you.
EXP party camps? rude
Everything else? fair game
No no silly, it's the general attitude of most people. For EXP camps tag the mob first and then taunt other group and just camp on their faces. For everything else (hnm/conested zones like dynamis/whatever else there is) ANYTHING GOES LOL.
It's really the best way to get stuff done, just be better then the other groups.
May the best player/group win whatever they came for - I understand this mentality in a game.No no silly, it's the general attitude of most people. Waaaaahhhh they are better then I am and won't go away so I can win what I want! - this is the mentality I don't understand in a game.
I found communication and polite approach to be the best way to both avoid conflict and to create friendly atmosphere in the game. It never hurts to be kind, friendly, and polite. Yesterday I ran into another party who wanted the same NM as my party.
Long story, our friend just got to LNC25 and could use an Eternal Shade so we headed for that NM at Camp Tranquil. My BF arrived first and saw the NM and was asking us how close we are so he could start fighting it to speed up the process. Our friend was a bit far because he has no chocobo, but I was in the claim range (I was PT leader so he had to wait for me no matter what) so he grabbed the NM anyway. He also told me there’s a person just arrived there and eyeing the NM.
He killed NM, no drop. He said more people came and it seems like this party also want the NM, so we might need to compete. They didn’t talk. Then I arrived at the scene on my chocobo, both them and my BF were standing around waiting for the NM to pop. After a while next one popped and I claimed it, and we killed it very fast.
At that point one of them flipped;
TheGuy: Fuck you dude we just need the damn NM for our quest.
Me: Oh you could have said so.
MyBF: You could’ve asked, jerk.
Me: How could I magically know that?
Lalafell: Sorry you want gear?
Me: Yes we’re for the Shade body armor.
Lalafell: Can we kill one for our quest?
Me: Sure.
Lalafell: Thanks.
MyBF: You can because you’re nice and asked.
TheGuy: sry
MyBF: Fuck off TheGuy. I don’t care for your attitude.
MyBF: You’re lucky you have nice friends.
I actually felt a bit embarrassed and felt sorry for the guy that my BF didn't accept his "sry" and made it clear he's not forgiving. Personally I am fast to accept apology, but I would understand why my BF made that stand. It's hard to feel friendly towards someone whose first reaction when he's displeased is to throw insult at people. Had he not throwing insult like that, there would be no unnecessary argument and no hurt feelings.
It's nice and easy to be friendly and just ask first. By asking, I don't mean asking for permission. NM does not belong to anyone. It's rather asking for cooperation, or a little bit of hospitality. Asking politely will, more often than not, ensure that the other party will not try to compete or interfere with your NM, and thus allows you to get it done easier, faster.
I personally feel that being competitive doesn't require hostility. So when you see a chance to show friendliness even towards your competitor, you should do so. Kindness can go a long way.

When it comes to xp parties we move on, but NMs and stronghold when we need the drop we will either compete or make a deal with the other group.
There is 2 reasons to play a game with other people:
1) Cooperation (lol)
2) COMPETITION <- this is the fun one
I don't want to play communist fantasy xiv.
Competition plz.
