The main problems with RDM and SAM are that they don't have as many problems as their counterparts. You should focus not on taking away from well designed jobs, but on making the other jobs better.
The whole point about Red Mages in all of the Final Fantasy games is that they learn all of the Intermediate spells of both Black Mage and White Mage, which means they can fill in for both the roles of a White Mage and a Black Mage if needed even though they won't necessarily excel at doing so.
I feel like they tried to capture this aspect in FFXIV which is why Vercure heals for so much. They'll never be a replacement for an OG healer who should be able to deal moderate damage and keep the tank topped off, but they fill the hole of maintaining the group if something unfortunate happens. In terms of Black Mage though, they do seriously need to give them a damage buff in burst damage, maybe even decrease the damage fall off on all of the aoe abilities since Red Mage doesn't have any damage fall off.
I can't agree with nerfing SAM or RDM after doing savage and seeing them under perform against their counterparts BLM and MNK/NIN in like every turn lol embolden just doesn't matter it doesn't really do much since an optimized BLM destroys RDM dps soooo nope

I don't get it. Why wouldn't you want an emergency cure or raise? I've never seen anyone get upset when both healers die and a RDM dual-casts verraise. Additionally, with 3 more DPS added since ARR - a new raise-capable job needed to be added since the likelihood of a SMN being in a party will naturally decrease with a larger pool of jobs.
About complexity: Think about it form a new or returning player perspective
- RDM fits SO NICE with a PS4 controller. you can map your actions to feel very ergonomic to the situation. Some jobs are just cumbersome to manage on PS4
- When stormblood came out, SE knew many of these players would be attracted the new jobs. The last thing you want to do is turn these new players off with a clunky job.

On that note to people that say RDM needs a nerf, or to be redesigned to be more difficult, I'd love to see what 'system' they'd put in place..
I mean if they really wanted to add complexity and punishment (with slight reward potential) vercure could generate moderate white mana like 8-12 and verraise a large amount of white mana like 15-25.Leave it alone. Yes, vercure and the super fast raising can be considered OP but it fits into their lore perfectly and they such things are a part of their support capabilities and charm. Simply put, the other 2 casters need to be brought up to speed. I have suggested this to the dev. team before, but if you want things to be good and varied, there has to be themes and strengths to the jobs.
Red Mage - jack of all trades. It fits this description well now, no need to change a thing.
Black Mage - should be the explosion master. Top caster single target DPS with numbers matching or surpassing what we are seeing from good Samurais as of 4.05 and second in line for AoE goodness.
Summoner - AoE specialist and slight support. As they have always been in Final Fantasies past. What they did to it for expansion was awful, I hope the dev. team fix this.
