Can Summoners Get Some Of These Combat Changes?

Sadly people are more worried about FFXI summons, egi glamours, or revamping SMN into another game's version rather than trying to offer ways to help the job while keeping it as FFXIV's SMN.

I'm an old ffxi summoner main who hates the current summoner and probably won't ever touch it... but instead of trying to change it into ffxi's summoner you wanted ways we think might help ffxiv's summoner. I gave mine.

Reset it to what? FFXI SMN?

Resetting the job doesn't help FFXIV SMN because that means it's not the FFXIV SMN anymore obviously. So no. It's not really help. And it dang sure isn't something they can do in a patch.

No reset the class to summoner and give it its own skills that are not in large part copies of scholars but you're absolutely right, they won't do something like that this late in the game and honestly I don't expect them too. I haven't given my opinion on summoner since 2.0's cycles for this reason but your comment irked me.

If I were to have had any input on this class at all in its making. I would have made this class revolve around non elemental magics, let scholar have ruin. What about meltdown, energy rays, conjuring... Why do we summon one time in a fight? If they don't want us to have sustain, why not give summoner different summoning archetypes that you summon for a period of time. There was a comment in here already that was a good idea, as in summoner could have been aliken to bard in that you summon a primal for 30 seconds or so and it auto attacks, uses skills powers, and if your conjuring gauge is high enough you can unleash a devistating attack. Gauge would be charged through spell use that consumes MP.

Honestly there's so many things they could have done with summoner but what they did to it with scholar just seemed like a lack of enthusiasm in creating it but "I just want a ffxi summoner" is all you are going to read into this probably anyway.

No this isn't true. I understand what you're saying here. All I'm trying to show with this thread is that there are ways to ask for changes and the only way to do that is to make the request realistic for what the Devs are capable of or what they might want to try doing.

Yes summoning one time a fight is stupid. And it's even brought up in my OP with the Bard idea! Mke summons instant OGCDs with no MP cost and Summoners play-style will get a big change from just a little change.
