I would say SE is a Japanese company SO things work differently with their laws? What i won't agree with you is the part of continue playing a game you cant afford. There have been times when i just stopped paying for this MMO because I got other priorities. I couldn't afford to pay. One thing it is getting annoying it is the constant 1-2 dollars charge SE does to my bank account when I come back.

I'm curious, what is the price for a meal, let's say the cheapest but enough nutrient(instant noodle doesn't count) in Brazil? In US$ would be nice.

Plus, why should Brazilian players pay less than everyone else (not having dedicated servers is not a valid argument; I don't recall us saying the same thing before Chaos was actually based in Europe).

But German is still a language of choice because Germany and Austria have more wealth on average than much larger countries with more prolific languages like Brazil and Russia do.
I think you underestimate how widely spoken German is. Personally I'm from Lugano which is Italian speaking, but everyone here speaks and understands German like most of Switzerland. I recognise that Portuguese is like 3x more speakers than German, but given that Germany is the base of SE's European operations; as well as it covering 6 countries (even if we don't include Sudtirol, which is an almost entirely German speaking region of Italy, and Opole/Silesia in Poland) - it's obviously not a "wealth" thing. WoW didn't initially have all the localizations it has today either (Portuguese and Italian especially coming extremely late, and Russian being the last of the "big three" languages added; despite having multiple servers overrun with Russian speaking /2)

In US a would probably be cheap because $1 costs around R$3~ so it wouldn't be accurate enough to give you an understanding. We talk about minimum wage and cost of living because that's what matters when thinking about how heavy a monthly subscription would be for someone

    Second this.

Europe includes around 50 countries, while English, French or German are official languages in only 14 of them (counted fast so might not be 100% but close), and even an official language can be a small minority language in a country.

I'm not from US, I just want to use US currency so it's easier to convert stuff. Just want to know how much would a cheap meal in Brazil cost so I can compare to my own.

2% from 5k usd and 2% 0.2k usd is the same 2% of wages, but very different in actual amount.

Well, it's me and my wife only in our house.

Per month, we spend around 300 to 400 BRL only for cooking meals. I say "cooking" because I'm excluding fast food and "junk food".

And I work in the office, so that meal is for dinner and weekend.

Guys, let's not forget this isn't a discussion about what is fair and what isn't. Steam subscription prices have been like that ever since FFXIV came out on Steam - it wasn't a 'mistake' made by SE, it's something a company needs to actively choose when they decide to publish a game through Steam. So, no, they aren't 'fixing' some 2-year long mistake, it's something else.
I don't expect everyone to understand why Steam offers lower prices to people from countries such as Brazil/Russia - our realities are very different and all the explaining in the world wouldn't be enough to properly portray them, and it still wouldn't make you able to magically understand what it is like to live in the same countries as us. Saying that we should pay the 'same amount' as 'everyone else' because it's 'fair' won't change a thing. What we're trying to figure out here is why there was such a big change in prices/currency with no prior warning.
