The Raid community as we know it

Noticed there are more bad players compare to back then? Or lets say New players doesnt get guides? Well what a shocked, it's because people , certain people teach them to have bad behavior towards others. Wants carry etc. Then you show people how you play well, people said use more regen, less medica spam outside hitbox to party members... all you said was "it was fun and it's just a game" you got triggered and shoved the critism under the carpet. And you try hard to be a good example?

I generally listen to the State of the Realm podcast every Wednesday at work to pass the time a little faster and generally it has done very well in doing so. This week's episode, however, had me almost actually FEELING my blood pressure going up. Why you ask? The guest--if any of you listened, I don't need to name names. If that guy represents the mentality of the raiding community, I am full glad that I have no part of it. People like him makes the League of Legends community look like Woodstock.

When raiders allow people with his kind of attitude, why do they wonder why more people don't raid?

Xeno? I dunno I probably wouldn't enjoy raiding with him due to his style of coaching but his team seems to be fine taking it as does he so... why does it matter?

I do find his persona funny though, especially how he likes that boss soley because he has a chainsaw gun.

While tending to agree to some extend really, you know, you can find non-raiders with the same attitude / mindset in-game as well, really. And there are several options to deal with such situations in-game as well already. But, yes, not all raiders share the attitude, hard not to agree with that.

That's not what they mean. What they mean is you don't exist on FFLogs. Your name does, but it shows nothing AT ALL, and it would even if you played like a Sylphie (a story NPC for WHM that raiders call a healer that does little to no DPS). For anything. Perhaps what you call "raiding" is normal mode/24 mans? I mean, even on your Lodestone, you aren't geared like a raider would be this far into the patch, seeing as there is no 320 anything on you besides what drops from Normal Mode. So either you're lying and getting called out for it, or what you think raiding is, is something different from what the rest of the community does. What you say and what your character shows are 2 vastly different things.

Teaching kids in a classroom and leading a high-pressure savage raid are two very different things. Xeno himself says that HE even plays better when people call him out when he screws up. That's proof right there that your ideas on teaching are invalid across mediums that aren't classroom-based. The atmosphere that severely harsh raid leaders create is one filled with pressure and anxiety only if you're just not good enough to play at that level. If you are the epitome of perfect in your class, you don't have to worry about being yelled at because you'll never screw up anyway. If you get yelled at constantly cause you're screwing up constantly, then not only are you in the wrong raid group, but you're probably doing content that's too hard for you in the first place.

Leading raids (I've done it on the highest level, fyi) is very similiar to teaching in classrooms. As the raid leader you need to identify the problem, and communicate the way to overcome it in the most understandable way possible.

Now, how do human beings react to being uncomfortable? They shut the teacher out, ignoring every attempt at communication. Seriously, go and read up on teaching and leadership methodology. Human beings are conditioned to respond more favourably (and learn at a much higher level) when they are comfortable, engage the teacher / leader, and respect the teacher / leader. Name calling, yelling / shouting, broad stroking, these are antithesis to that.

As for the atmosphere? All the years of high level raiding I've done, I have rarely been called out. However, when the raid leader does it to others, and I have to listen to it, it becomes very uncomfortable, very quickly. Now I know (and I did acknowledge it) that there are raid leaders out there that foster a comfortable, positive environment, but these are very hard to find, and one typically has to go through a lot of toxic groups before they get to them. It gets to the point of "it's not worth it." So I can do more than normal raids, but it's not worth it, not to me. Now if the entire raid community was more positive, warm, and welcoming? Different story.

Might be cultural thing but my whole family, relatives and friends shit talk to each other A LOT and we find it pretty funny, hell even my grandmother do this even tho shes well over 80's. Sarcasm and dark humor is strong in here these two goes pretty well together, tho i must admit that this PC crap has killed humor in mainstream because "muh feelings" and that blows.

There is a difference between talking garbage to each other, and being overly aggressive and insulting, thinking that this will suddenly make players play better.

I don't like watching streams or podcasts, so I'm not familiar with how Xeno is in a team situation. However, I do vastly prefer his videos since he gives in depth information on mechanics. I haven't seen any of his videos presenting content in a demeaning or vulgar manner. Someone in my static ended up with Xeno in an ex primal recently and had a great time (he said the DPS was awesome).

If you're thinking of raiding, be sure to look for groups that share your mindset. If you're looking to do ex primals on PF, either be wary of descriptions or make your own PF, clearly requesting positive attitudes.

If you truly believe everything you just wrote, you must be an incredibly one dimensional teacher. There are different types of raid groups for this very reason. Those comfortable, positive environment raid groups you talk about? Those are like that because no one is fucking up and wiping every single pull OR because no one in the group cares about actually killing the boss. You being uncomfortable when a raid leader calls out someone who screwed up doesn't mean that it's the case for everyone. Being comfortable does not equal for me what it does for you. If I'm in a raid where the raid leader is constantly telling everyone "haha i screwed that up a lot when I started too, no worries, we'll get there on the 1500th wipe no problem!" That makes me uncomfortable. Why should something that makes me uncomfortable be less important than something that makes you uncomfortable, just because what you find uncomfortable is aggressive?

I think it's funny how upset people are about Xenos existence. He's actually quite chill and I've run farm and learning parties with him. The problem people have with him, is how direct he is. He doesn't sugar coat shit because it's a waste of time. People that can't take blunt or 'aggressive' criticism will get triggered.

you also should take consideration on who is behind the keyboard. Being too aggressive can be bad. Personally, there are better ways to be a team member, and that is old school planning and teamwork. tell people the strategy for the fight before doing it. Make sure everyone is on the same page. Someone should stand up and be a leader and lead the group. And those agree respectfully follow. People don't do that anymore, and it shows.

People just rage and blame other for their own incompetence. If you don't explain content, or how you plan to tackle it... how can you blame others for not following?
