They said "you have bunny ears in the gold saucer. Go put them on. Boom, Viera." They assumed people only want Viera for their looks. Yet proudly display they play Miqo'te both in their profile and sig. I don't know why they specifically chose Miqo'te, but I bet they wouldn't be happy if Miqo'te were suddenly ripped away and were told the same thing, but with cat ears. Because they might have picked Miqo'te for reasons other than their appearance, like you did. So just putting on cat ears wouldn't replace the race as a whole. In other words: they probably get would get annoyed if people said "just go put on cat ears. Boom, Miqo'te," because the race is more than cat ears. Yet they (and some others) brazenly say "go put on bunny ears and you're a Viera."
That's why I called them a hypocrite. You're free to disagree with me and think I took it too far. I'm not entirely sure why you're arguing with me as we agree the race is more than its looks, but I'll leave it at that.

Hasn't one of the consistently stated concerns been that many don't trust a race not originally settled into the gameworld, and therefore allotted for in world-lore across all content, to be "more than just cat ears"?
This issue plagues any later-added race, but SE really kicked player trust in the gut with Au'ra, when the only excuse for the race was a single Ruby Sea native leading an otherwise entirely Hyuran group of Domans to refuge in Eorzea. Not to mention the difference between the concept art and the actual player models, and the yet continued clipping issues with additional racial features (as with tails, horns).
