I don't think fixing Plenary will do anything besides improve our quality of life. Yes it's awful, but even making it less awful of a heal still won't fix the underlying issue.

Astro is king atm because of 20% balance, if you're doing progression raiding you will take an astro; weather it be diurnal or nocturnal for balance. White mage seems appealing atm because scholar got beat with the nerf bat but I sincerely doubt (I may be eating my words in a few days), that they'll let scholar stay the way it is. At that point we go back to 3.4 days.

It's dumb that a nocturnal astro can completely nullify susanoo extremes push back with an instant cast less MP used shield compare to scholar, and that's not even the tip of the iceberg, but that's saved for another post about a different topic. So once scholar gets fixed outside of early progression for a safety net why would you take a white mage? Because you personally enjoy the flavor of the class more than astro? That's perfectly fine if your group is okay with it, but even with your groups consent that doesn't change the fact that you do not have balance so you'll be hindering overall raid DPS and prolonging the fight by not being an astro. True you'll be able to heal damage in less GCD's than an astro and can go back to DPSing quicker but your personal DPS does not outweigh 10% balance on the whole group.

Scholar brings chain stratagem to the group, and astro has resource cards + balance. You could even argue that you could bring another melee DPS or caster and forgo bard/mechanic entirely if you play your cards right if savage omega is as lenient as creator. With double goad and mana shifting going around it may actually end up being viable. Probably not for early progression because bards tactician and refresh are an insane safety net but when everyone knows the fight?

Thin air may be amazing, and our MP management might be great but that doesn't improve raid DPS. If ballad still incurred a damage penalty we could argue that...but not anymore lol. White mage will be viable in all content, it will be able to beat anything and have good MP management. But it will not be competitive in the raid scene unless it gets utility or balance gets reduced to 10%, like in midas days. That's when healer balance (ignoring nocturnal astro), was best imo.

But considering that Yoshi didn't even comment on the state of healers and only talked about tanks/DPS in that forum post maybe all healers being viable is enough for SE. If so, I feel for my scholar brothern and sisters, lol. I hope that train of thought is completely wrong, but we'll see in a few days.

Make WHM good enough to solo heal anything and replace an AST/SCH with RDM instead.
