An advantage is still an advantage even if it's not currently useful. If Usain Bolt is riding a bus, his running speed won't give him an advantage on the bus ergo it's useless. But, the fact he is the fastest runner on the planet is still an advantage in running compared to other people running.

Now you're shifting the goalpost. Nowhere did you specify HPS "potential" until afterwards.

In regards to the whole advantage side of things. I acknowledged WHM has a HPS lead in a vacuum, but that wasn't the initial discussion nor can it be labeled an advantage for the very reasons you stated. Your Usain Bolt example also does not work because running has no inherent threshold. You can't run "too fast" whereas healing is finite. Anything above the threshold is useless, thereby taking away the advantage you keep insisting WHM has.

Put simply, if your advantage is useless nine times out of ten, then it's hardly an advantage worth talking about.

Why don't you go back to my original post and look at it. Just because I don't use the word "potential" doesn't mean what I said was false information.

I agree with everything you've said, so the reason I quoted one sentence was to nitpick a single point. Even if that point isn't very important to the overall picture.

Is simply mentioning it exists really that controversial?

Hi HyoMin! Hope you aren't annoyed I chose only a few points to respond to.* As a journeyman whiteman, I agree.

In all the content I've healed, there has not been one instance (heh) where the supposed niche of white mages, burst healing, has been needed.

It is disheartening to read this trend continues onward from where I stand. This is directly the fault of the individuals who are responsible for game content.

As other games have shown, burst healing combined with being a turret is an exciting and engaging style of play. Now, if only S.E. will get onboard on give us instances/raids where white mages can shine.

If not, then at least give us a new niche.
