One thing that I can always count on in this game is a bunch of people expecting perfection 24 hours after a patch and a week after an entire expansion.

Because I don't have so much of a rotation as a priority system for buffs, sen, and kenki spending.
Rotations are too easily interrupted by mechanics. Anyone who sticks to a singular rotation instead of adapting to the fight will probably do much worse.
If you need a tool other than the training dummy, then you're not playing the game as it was intended.Mostlikely will yes. I agree on what you are saying, but I seriously can't grasp it when people on this forum claims they don't need any tool to get good. You don't really need to if you know how it all floats, however it helps. I just can't understand why some people say they can figure it out on their own, but in reality they wait for some guy to fix it for them so then can learn the rotation.
Things like the Jump potions and PotD have basically made a mockery of players learning anything, because those level 32-49 dungeons progressed in a way for you to learn those skills as you got them. PotD, you might be that level for about 5 minutes. When those skill gauge manuals come up, you have no time to read it and just click it off.
On the other hand PotD is a good way to find out if you like or hate doing a certain job. So maybe RDM or SAM is not for you, get it to 60 within the PotD and find out if you like playing it, otherwise try something else.

I always take it fairly serious whatever job i play to learn rotations.
Your question can also apply OP to tanks and healers...
Don't forget that all players must have Ex fights memorized by heart, with no mess ups, despite having never played them before.
I do know my rotations, but I've been a WHM since beta (main RDM now), so I'm still getting used to performing a rotation, watching for procs/mana AND dodging mechanics of bosses I'm still not used to (I'm lvl 64, cleared Susano and the 2 dungeons before only once)
I get what you're saying, I just fundamentally disagree. You know if you're in a good group or not just by how fast mobs are dying and how smooth boss fights go. You don't need a meter to see that. Gamers have been gaming without them for years. Ever since WoW it became a thing.
There's nothing inherently wrong with them, but it's the players that misuse them; and you know darn well they won't just be used to see how your own personal performance is. They will be used to set standards - often way over the top standards - even in lowbie dungeons.
There is a timer for every dungeon, anyway. If it's getting low you know the group is failing badly.
Unless there aren't at least 4 enemies, I'm not touching Death Blossom on my Ninja. It's a TP drain and the potency is only 110.
Katon has a potency of 250. Doton has a potency of 40 (per tick - 60 if you use it with Kassatsu).
Ninjutsus are on a 20 seconds cooldown.
Now with Hellfrog Medium and Ten-Chi-Jin, AoE for Ninjas is a little stronger, but just bursting enemies down one after another is more suitable for me (if there are only 3 enemies).
Hold on let me quote you really quick on that.
You say I'm not playing the game as intended but yet you say stop caring about your DPS? Did you know the actually goal for duties are 0% hp on adds and bosses? It seems like you're the one playing the game wrong. Do 4k dps in susano like you would do on a dummy, highly doubt you will beause of mechanics and stop and holding cds makes a major factor of how you perform or not. Popping b4b for example isn't excactly the smartest idea to do when boss is about to disappear. Just because you can on a dummy, doesn't mean you should in a fight. So who's playing the game wrong? So I guess those players who plays optimaly or very good at least, giving out guides for jobs are playing wrong too? So instead of listening to them, why not listen to you.. I mean you play the game right and we play it wrong.. waiting for a respons here.

Show me where DRG rotation changed to having hit the flank and rear of the mob to now the front only. You don't need Stormblood to re-learn such things.
When you do more damage as a healer than a decently-geared Dragoon....
Still many people can't even put up Heavensward levels of damage.
