Yes those are the only two that trigger dive ready
Guys you are still forgetting that you can use BotD (the cd) to keep your eyes up.
If a fight like susano or last msq has an add phase, the sword and the mini dragons in this case; you just pop BotD when you have 1 second on the counter and this will make you 15s often allowing you to either refresh when you hit the adds (mini dragons) or go directly into Nastrond (the sword).
Actually the sword phase is great for dragoon because you use your eye stacks from phase 1 and allow to build 3 eyes and both jump and SSD are up before susano comes back and you can perform a 3 Nastrond opener. It's not that hard, just inconvenient.
Gameplay wise I think it's fun. I was worried it'd became completely braindead since keeping BOTD up is not a concern in nearly all cases, but the new rotation has a busy OGCD schedule and it's fun trying to squeeze stuff in those B4B windows. That said, there are some issues:
- Like a lot of people said, Mirage Dive's animation is way too long.
- Dragon Sight has an absurdly short reach, making it clunky to activate.
- Entering LOTD takes waaaay too long. Makes 0 sense to me to have a high burst phase you can't use on your opener. They really should have given DRG a long cooldown that grants you 4 eyes ASAP, so you can at least open using Nastrond.
- Disembowel nerf was undeserved. Add that to the fact BRD and MCH aren't top dogs anymore and your synergy (which used to be the best in the game) becomes irrelevant in front of SAM's godly damage. I'm sure they'll balance the jobs later, but still...
Basically: It's flashy and fun to play, but there are some design flaws and feels a bit undertuned to me
Apparently our Japanese Dragoon brothers are not pleased as well. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...%A1%88/page140
There's probably something to do, but nothing that would give you more eyes, having anything else giving you dive ready would just fuck everything up.
For dps&stuff, we need to see more fight, susano one is pretty easy, you'd need to delay your 2nd geirskogull so you can enter Lotd at around 1:10 or smth then you'll have time to use 2 nastrond and pop B4B right when it's up, even if it lasts only 10sc before susano leaves, it will be back when he comes back and yeah if you did everything right during the sword you'll have an opener with everything under Lotd.
If you're using any kind of timers on the sword then stop.
Right now it seems like BRD and MCH have a lower dps than every other class, might get the 10% disembowel back, who knows.
I'm honestly really digging the way Dragoon works right now. Keeping BotD up for an entire fight is very feasible with the shortened cooldown, and it's rewarding when you do it just right (Susano Ex, for example) and never lose a single eye.
It's pretty annoying trying to deal with BotD in dungeons, however. It feels unintuitive that our AoE "rotation" just ignores BotD and LotD all while dangling a 10 second cooldown, 320 potency Nastrond in front of our faces. The urge to just do my single-target rotation to build eyes is so strong, yet I know that I'll be gimping my overall damage that way. It would just be nice if Doom Spike and/or Sonic Thrust at least added some time to BotD. Getting one GK off per blood is lame.
Bosses on DRG are nothing short of awesome. Most fun I've had in a long time. Words cannot describe how nice it is to know exactly which positional I have coming up. Thank you, SE. Thank you.
Unintuitive dungeon rotation is unintuitive. Do single target up to when you get 30 seconds on the clock for botd, swap to aoe, get eyes, rinse and repeat; in between pulls sprint to the next pack and refresh botd using the cd when the counter reachs 1 or right before a refresh hit. For every pull after the first you should have nastrond available, same for almost every boss you can open with a nastrond opener. It's pretty annoying trying to deal with BotD in dungeons, however. It gimps your damage on the first pull because you spend 6gcds (ht IDC44) in putting botd on 30 seconds, but it makes you be able to use Nastrond the rest of the dungeon.

To me DRG just feels more punishing now compared to 3.x because of dragon eye stacks. I found it easier to strategically burn BotD with Geirskogul and didn't feel as punished for having to do mechanics. With 4.0 BotD and Dragon Eyes, almost every mechanic, transition phase, etc. that lasts more than 30s (45s, really but that's pushing it) is going to drop your built up eyes and delay your Nastrond burst, which already takes forever to happen on a dummy.
Sure you can optimize fights, but if you just play casually, you probably wouldn't. Wasn't it SE's goal to decrease DPS disparity and make class feel less punishing and more rewarding instead? Quickest fix I can think of that will go leaps and bounds for QoL is eye stacks not dropping when you lose BotD. A lot of the other jobs have gauges and stacks that don't decay over time, so I don't think it's too much to ask.
Better get another melee job to 70 though in case DRG gets even more screwed by Omega invuln, mechanics, and what not.
Frankly a little disheartened.
Change to AoE is a step in the right direction but still no way to maintain BotD with aoe tools is a problem.
Nastronds are cool but LotD feels a little unrewarding, and encounters seem to consistently have immune periods right as LotD becomes available.
I feel like DRG is being pushed as a kind of support melee in 4.0 but our raid utility skills still seem clumsy, piercing debuff got an undeserved nerf, and Dragon sight is extremely obnoxious. If it was adjusted as a self buff that always affects the DRG and whoever was closest got tethered for the 5% I'd be much happier with it.
There's a macro for that! It works pretty well but be careful in dungeons because sometimes it targets tank or caster/healer if you're not wary.
/micon "Dragon Sight"
/merror off
/tpc
/ac "Dragon Sight"
/ac "Dragon Sight"
/ac "Dragon Sight"
/ac "Dragon Sight"
/ac "Dragon Sight"
/ac "Dragon Sight"
/ac "Dragon Sight"
/tle
What this macro does is, it forces you to target your closest PT member (/tpc) and attempts to use DS multiple times (for weaving purposes), then the /tle line shifts your targetting back to the last enemy you hit. So you should be on top of the PT member you want to use it on.
Problem is this doesn't work for
-Prepulls
-Chocobos
