You are bringing up fight mechanics. That isn't the same as learning your rotation, what your jobs does, and how it works. You can know your job and how to perform it without knowing mechanics to a fight.
I'm talking about things in the MSQ. And reading about stuff is different then doing it. So, yeah, I'm sure you read some notes about your role and were perfect from day one.Yes, you actually can.
So in your opinion, if you only fate leveled, you would have no idea how to use bard songs in a dungeon?
Uh... Ok.
Also, who levels on Garuda and Titan hard mode? Dungeon leveling won't teach you those mechanics either. This seems like a silly thing to say.
And I was just mentioning a few things in the MSQ that are obviously harder than Fates and involve using your job skills AND learning mechanics. If you can't see beyond an example to what I'm saying then it's not my problem.

If you can't see the difference between learning and knowing your job and learning and knowing mechanics then it's not my problem.
I was talking about both and you are focusing on one. OK. You tell me how somebody can learn to work properly at their job so they can run dungeons while only having real in game experience running FATEs?

Because it's not hard to learn a rotation. It's so simple it's amazing you still can't grasp it.
It's not just rotations, though. There's bard buffs for example, when to use what. And then there's timing and positioning. Granted, you can do decently without thinking too much about those.
And while I personally don't understand why you'd want to experience SB's storyline without knowing what happened in ARR/HW, I get that everyone's tastes are different and some people just don't care for the story at all.
The only thing that worries me here is that this might attract a certain WoW crowd this game could really do without (and since this sentence might be misunderstood, no I'm not talking about WoW players in general, just certain ones that annoyed everyone else).

You mean learn mechanics. The same way everyone does. By doing the dungeon and learning mechanics, but that doesn't mean they don't know how to work their job properly. Or are you saying you don't know your job rotation, skills and workings because you haven't experienced mechanics?
