I love the story.. But this statement actually made sense to you? 2 weeks to finish a story people may not care about to play with their friends if they are just starting? No. I'm so happy you aren't a dev. It doesn't take long to learn a few button rotation.
I want to skip the 60-70 story so I can craft and gather
If I had that buy-able option I would
(edit forgot put my friend said this)

If your are planing on playing samurai or redmage from the start i would encourage you to go through the heavensward story to level one.
This is literally why they were added. I like the story, too, but that's the option. If it doesn't interest you, then you have the option.
As long as there are still tools to help teach new players that jumped, who cares? You're going to meet good players and bad players no matter what.
Advanced content? It is leveling content. MSQ content is leveling content that has little to no checks. You can get through MSQ content spamming moves without any real rotation. You can get as much familiarity running your job through the MSQ as you would just practicing on a test dummy, or you can potentially learn nothing. (People have leveled through the MSQ for several years now and don't have a familiarity with their jobs.)
I hate to say it but from a story perspective, starting at Heavensward makes less sense than skipping it. The end of HW wrapped up a lot of dangling plot threads. If you start at HW you are stuck with Why am I an outcast? Who's this kid I'm always talking to? Who's that guy in the jail? Why am I looking for a bunch of people I've never met? etc. It's like watching Return of the Jedi without seeing Empire Strikes Back. If they are going to skip, SB is a lot cleaner.
I didn't say it was great experience. But better than fates or soloable dungeons.Advanced content? It is leveling content. MSQ content is leveling content that has little to no checks. Why do you want to skip it?
