AST always been great in good players hands even in 3.0, we litterally had to wait 3.2 to be decent compared WHM and 3.4 to compete with SCH.
It's alright, you just gonna need to wait until 4.2 patch'
Let's all nerf everyone into the dirt so no one can clear the first Stormblood Dungeon, then in 4.2 when they rebalance it, we'll all be okay, and not get angry with people for not wanting their job to be weak.

Lol. AST should never be decent enough to replace a WHM. Or compete to replace a SCH. Your way of thinking about this is stupid. A hybrid job should never be as good as WHM/SCH. They have their Card System. That should be well enough to make them unique and being played about. Not treading on WHM/SCH jobs. Which SE thinks AST should replace both healer jobs. AST is not a hybrid in the traditional sense because the support role as a whole does not actually exist in this game, only tank/dps/healer. Would you be okay with saying BRD and MCH should do terrible damage because they have support skills? For a while that was the case and it got changed to where those classes were actually able to do competitive DPS because it was a hindrance to parties. AST got buffed to the point it currently is at so that SE felt it could compete, as a healer, against the other healers, for a healing spot, because it is a healer. The buff we got for SB IS too much, but this "hybrid roles shouldn't be -blank-" thinking is way outdated in MMOs. This game is not built as tank/dps/healer/support.
I agree we shouldn't be better than WHM, but AST still needs to be able to heal the damage, and SE felt that at first AST couldn't do that on an equal level.

For what it's worth, I assume it's high because you had to burn your buff to use it, plus, if memory serves, it's a chance for that to come up as opposed to Lord.
They don't really have to burn a buff though, just think of all those times you had an aoe royal road ready to go waiting for that balance and kept drawing bole and redraw into spire or spear redrawn into ewer etc and you just had to discard them. Its essentially removing the need for the discard button by turning even the trash cards into something worthwhile.
There is so much hate in that statement.
I find it hilarious that tanks and dps are totally fine with the future while healers are begging for other healers to be nerfed, based on changes they've never even played.

For people who keep saying lady card 500 heal potency is too high
1. Chance to get ladycard is 50:50 being the other is lord card
2. You only get the lady/lord crowns card IF you have a card you dont want to use
3. You draw card every 30s
So... Every 30s draw a card which majority of the time will be use for royal road and keep in spread AND 50:50 chance to get lady card
Long cooldown, almost no wasted card and luck dependent.... I say 500 potency is fair. Keep in mind this is normal mobs scenario where the ast can leisurely prepping their card, in boss fight i think you better of with your healing spell instead of gambling on lady card
The entire problem with this is that the addition of minor arcana, either Lord or Lady, means that the RNG in Astro has been mitigated fully- no matter what the card you draw is now useful for something and you never have to discard to preserve your royal road again. The worst case scenario for a card draw is now a 500 potency heal. On top of all their other buffs that's bonkers. The one way in which the class might sometimes under perform (bad card draws), which was contingent entirely on luck, is now a button press away from turning into more free off-global healing / damage. The least they could have done is make it so that Astro's literal consolation prize for bad card draws wasn't in and of itself another powerful ability.
