    Who cares.

From what I saw, it looks like they're adding actual mechanics to some classes that desperately needed them. With a much easier to track resource ui than watching a tiny buff bar.

Personally I'm a bit excited to test these new job gauges. Probably I'm getting my hopes up a bit more than I should but, I might even level one of my alts just to see how they effect earlier gameplay.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

If I understand correctly, the purpose of this HUD is not make suddenly every low DPS players by high tier. Any tool won't reach such purpose (even the DPS meter won't help at all on this). The purpose of the HUD is make the core mechanic of a Job be more visible.

For example. A Black Mage that don't know what in the world Enochian is it, will have a meter which show him that thing, and probably will wake up curiosity on what the hell is it, and start try or research what that thing is and maybe discover that thing in his job that didn't know before. Instead of just call them a plain careless players. What I see is all the HUD represent the core skill of a job, like the Blood of the Dragoon on Dragons; the Enochian, Astral Fire and Umbral on Black Mage; the Infuriated (now called Inner Beast) on Warriors; or the Aetherflow stacks and Dreadwyrm trance on summoners. The purpose is giving those player who ignore such tools a way to see them and keep tracking in order to understand what it is, instead of keep in the oblivion in their skills windows.

Of course, there still be players that ignores it, and will continue ignoring it, but if can reach to a good amount of players it is a good idea try it at least.

I like much more this idea than a DPS meter who tells them a number that probably won't understand and other players uses as weapon to harass him, instead of showing that his class it is. Plus the HUD cannot be used in an harass way, so is more safe than a parser from the developers point of view.

For me, I think is a wonderful idea despite maybe can overcomplicate some jobs. But let's see how will this be before throw shit at the new system.

It would appear that people just didn't watch the live letter. Nor are you reading my op post. So to help you all understand, here's the slide.

My point was, this increasing the dps floor is the entire point of the new HUD. The size of the hud, the position of the hud, and all the things the translator lady was saying at the 38-40 minute mark for this slide isn't the problem I have. The problem is, their problem to be solved, by YoshiP's own comments and the slide is that lack of visual representation of key skills is directly responsible for the 30% or greater disparity between casual and core DPS. So they're making a big deal about the new HUD because they want to fix this DPS gap. My point is, making a cool HUD won't fix stupid or bad. And that's not a superiority complex, its reality.

It is part of the overhaul to ease the disparity. Not everyone can juggle all these buffs correctly given it is a tiny icon on your bar. The new HUD plus reduction in excessive skills and stuff will bring the floor up. If you can't understand that then I am done with you.

This is such a dumb thing to complain about, the new will help some players and be a nice gift to the better ones.

edit: So if you take all that literally, sure maybe the hud won't fix a 30% difference. Look at all the changes together man. If you are hung up over that comment then chill.

Well as a SMN you spend a lot of your time looking at the status window at the bottom for timers. The whole point is so you looking up (Heads Up Display) so your paying more attention to the fight and it's mechanics rather than down at numbers and missing important fight ques. This is going to help a lot of people.

Your inability to understand me is not surprising. I find that the general player base often has issues understanding things, no matter how basic. In fact that's the entire point of my opening premise and argument. I like the new HUD, and I like the new changes, but they won't fix the stated problem they are trying to fix. YoshiP specifically outlines the problem they are trying to fix and why. And then spends about eight minutes explaining how they're going to fix it. But its not going to work, because the problem isn't the HUD.

Your main issues is your lack of understanding. Stupid and bad do not make up that 30% dps disparity not even a large portion of it.

This stuff is going to help. It's going to help some people more than others. Not everyone understands things as easily as others in the same manner; some people need different methods to get things across.

That said, as an AST, I'm really looking forward to this. I won't have to look through my buffs, trying to find the icon that tells me what I'm holding. It's going to be right there, separate from all my other icons. Big graphic, the name, the timer. That's awesome.

It will be easier to understand. It will be quicker to see.

Finally, someone that understands my point though disagrees. Hey at least you're not thinking that I hate the HUD or its too big. Fine. I'll handle the rest. I honestly believe that YoshiP is overestimating the competency of the casual players he's trying to improve.
