Gauges, HUD, and other attempts to bring the DPS floor up, won't work

they won't fix the stated problem they are trying to fix. YoshiP specifically outlines the problem they are trying to fix and why. And then spends about eight minutes explaining how they're going to fix it. But its not going to work, because the problem isn't the HUD.

You already said it will help some but not others. What is the target playerbase? There are players who have trouble maximizing uptimes on buffs, memorizing rotations, and watching the battlefield at the same time. There is no absolute solution unless the game plays itself to perfection. Is Yoshi selling it for more than it's worth? Possibly, but I don't see the point of this thread when all it does is criticize the intentions of developers trying to ease the burden.

It seems like your argument is that it will help some people, but won't help other people, and because it doesn't help other people, it's a failure.

If that is the case, then your thread is also a failure. You've managed to convince some people of your point, but others didn't buy into it.

I gave you two direct arguments that you did not address. That said, the post you replied to pointed out a flaw in your logic. You conceded that it might help some people, but that did not change your opinion that it is a failure due to it not helping everyone. It's ironic that you attack my reading comprehension, but then require me to explain the purpose of my post in illustrating your flawed logic.

No, I started my OP with the opinion that it wouldn't help ANYONE. But a few people made a decent argument that it would help a few, some, part of the player base, etc. They convinced me that there might be a some portion of the player base that might be large enough affect a change in the disparity in DPS between casual and core players. We'll find out, maybe, if they release the numbers later, post release stating, 'mission accomplished.'

Nope, I said that the stated solution won't fix the stated problem they wanted to fix. Not that it won't fix other problems, or of being use to other people for different reasons.

As you so pointedly called me out: Fine, lets address this. Yes, this will help some people, it will provide feedback, and will do as stated to provide increased visibility. However, I still have, serious doubts that they will close the 'extreme DPS disparity' by any significant margin, as the given size of the particular demographic that this would actually help is unknown to me, whereas I have personal experience with large numbers of stupid people. So as long as the number of currently derp, but otherwise trainable players who just need a big shiny meter to watch is larger than the demographic of netflix afk'ing/botting/stupid people, then YES, this will fix the problem. There. I said it.

So what's the issue? It will possibly close the gap for people who aren't AFK or have read a tooltip (Stupid people), but you can't fix (stupid people) without making the system itself stupid. So it may help those it can, it probably won't help those who no system could help. That's a successful thought in my eyes.
