I've got a friend who sadly is considering ending his sub soon. He is from Peru and his ping has increased dramatically. Stable at 270 spikes at 310.

Which server will be best for him? If there's any?

Has he tried a VPN/tunneling service? Unfortunately, it's practically a requirement to be able to play this game for a lot of people.

I love how the west coast players immediately try to make fun of people who are legit having issues. The entitlement is real.

Even worse is comparing it to Riot's server move some time back. I'm lead to believe there was actual communication with the players about the move and the new location was done centrally as a way to benefit the most people. It was a purely "for the players" sounding decision.

From what people have looked into of SE and NTT's business relationship, this was a purely business decision, with no thought given to the players. Which I think is one of the more telling things here.

I live on the east coast with pretty poor internet, and I honestly can't say I've noticed any loss of performance.

We've always gotten hit by AoEs after running out of them. We have a reputation for being one of the clunkiest MMOs after all. Anyone getting "She deep breaths more" vibes?

People, that hide their main character to hide their "competitiveness" in public or do it during a time where we have absolute no content for competitive progress without we can't proove what the change really means, are with a very high probability not competent or competitive.

Someone was hiding their main character? If you are talking about me then I already stated that I don't play at that level.

As for the content currently available, people are more likely preparing themselves for Stormblood firsts. Even if when we don't have any current content for competitive clearing, doesn't mean people aren't preparing for when new content comes out. It is also easier to book replacements earlier than later.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised the people who were kicked remain friends with their former group. When such a decision is made, it isn't made with malice but with professionalism. It is just business. At this level, it is the same as being removed due to getting your arm cut off and thus being unable to play. This is a playing to win mindset, not playing for fun.

I have a whole two ISP's to choose from in one whole corner of a state. My ping went from about 20 to 60 since for whatever reason it likes me hopping around chicago before heading out to california. And some of those hops are REALLY bad.

99% of people who raid can't bring 100% of what the class they play can do. so it's not really a choice most groups have anyway.
