Not sure what my ping is in Colorado but it seems nicer than the old servers. A lot in my FC checked and posted their new numbers. Seems AU, NZ and countries in that area came out about the same(200 to 300). (They get 150 to 250 to JP servers). We have a lot of west coast players and they are thrilled(lot of sub 30ms). Basil FC members seem to have their ping go up a bit(varies widely from 250 to 500). East Coast users seemed to take the biggest hit on ping(200 to 250). Oddly 1 players from Britain saw their ping go down to (100ish). No clue how that worked out.

Hopefully there is something for free going into SB so players can chose which DC to play on.

From 130 to 190 (Spain), i've been testing combat and i see no difference as the game was made to take a ltency of 200-250ms.
Curious thing is i'm getting 176 from work, so i can improve it.

Sitting at 163ms for me. In-Game interactions takes 3 secs latency, dodging stuff in Dun Scaith I have to foresight 3-5 secs in advance

Whilst I'm sure it's laggy for you, 3-5 seconds is just hyperbole....... or at least I'd hope it is. :s

The "ms" part means milliseconds. 163ms ping will not equal 3-5 whole seconds of lag (which would be 3000-5000ms ping), although spikes and packet loss could make things feel way worse than 163ms ping.

I am so upset about this whole thing. I still can't believe it's actually happening.

The thing is I would normally just move to EU and forget all about this.
However, my SO is in the US and if I make him move to EU he wouldn't get to enjoy the game. (he tested it and got around 250-300 ms on EU server). And if I stay then I would be the one who wouldn't get to enjoy the game.
We both preordered Stormblood and have been excited to play together. Now I honestly don't know what to do and it's killing me inside that things went the way they did.

I know that people keep saying that the game is playable at 220ms or less, but it just isn't enjoyable. I used to be able to pull off 6 Ruin IIIs during DWT every single time, and now I barely make it to 5. Attempting to go for 6 almost always results in losing DWT...it just feels bad and not fun at all.

I can feel your pain. After my XI friends stopped playing XIV i thought about switching servers. I started to buy resellable stuff. Then i found new friends in my current FC and i really feel "home". Of course they are all americans.


Now it feels like i have to decide between the love for final fantasy or the love for these ppl. That is just not right. I should not be in the position where i have to chose between friends and ping. And right now i think that i would rather quit the game. It is heartbreaking

If SE would make cross server friendships (across all data centers) and allow us to play everything together, not just cross server dungeons.. Just like Blizzard did with WoW. You can be on 3 different servers with 4 ppl and you can still play together what ever content you want.

Ping can't be the only thing affecting this. I'm on the west coast of England and after reading your post I tested this on my SMN. My ping went from 90+ to 180+, yet I could previously only get 5 Ruin IIIs off during DWT and I can now get 6 comfortably. Strange!

There was packet loss before reported thanks to level 3's hideous network.
