If i do, i'd need to take care to make it work for me, circumstantially ... like starting up the Beastmaster job, since that's the way to go in XI for Solo. That would make much of the content (Old storyline stuff etc i have not yet completed or just general exploration) much much more accessible. Then kinda just latch onto a linkshell that's shouting in the city zones and see what adventures crop up from there.
Actually, watching some videos about the 2017 environment gives me a lot of confidence. Those NPCs at the city gates are huge, creating a hub to track your progress on all the games quests/story stuff, what you have and haven't finished etc. A way to get gear tomes style through them. Can sell it for gil to NPCs as well. That whole very simple system just makes the game so much more accessible to someone who wants to play it for a couple hundred hours, rather than say, a couple thousand LOL. Which imo is really important for a game 15 years into its life cycle. That plus you can now fast travel *-* I mean, hey, i loved the epicness of the old days, and i long for a game in today's world that can make me feel that way again, but i totally support these changes that make XI accessible without having to necessarily dedicate your life to it. The game is 15 years on now. ... and as i understand it, the end game still exists, ... and i'm sure that bunnies still kill.
And i guess you can create a full party with NPCs now? Again, love it, thanks. No need to concern myself with shouts for party for 10 year old content. Just go ahead and go play it, experience it, enjoy it. It doesn't interfere with the end game. Same reason i support its inclusion in XIV come 4.1
Honestly, i'm loving what i'm seeing here. Very easy to walk in and focus on experiencing it strictly as a core offline game, which, frankly, was pretty tough in the old days, lets be honest. Not that it's a bad thing it was how it was, but yeah, in 2017, it needs to be a game you can pop fresh into and just play the story and then find other adventures outward from there, and it looks like it does that now. $10 isn't very much for literally everything.
If they shut down the servers today and started selling it as an offline Final Fantasy, any player could play the main story through, and that's exactly how it should be in 2017. So good on the devs.
