I can understand your view and I might have "argued" a bit more than I wished, but my post was mainly to point-out that the Pug creature you've posted doesn't look remotly related to the Sea-Serpent we've seen in the cut-scene.

Whatever its name is, its a very big fish .
Lol yes, it is a very big fish.

I'm not saying my word is absolute in terms of what the sea serpent represents. Hell, I'm not part of the dev team. Rather just expressing my only expectation of the sea serpent. Always thought it was like a legendary pug or something ever since beta. I didn't go too far on the story for limsa. So I neglected any lore behind the "sea serpent" event. I remember very little, but I didn't pay much heed to it since of my original thought on it.

I can only assume since it's being scrapped, they're just moving on with the new story as it comes out.

Let's change how mario looks and give him a super hero suit that looks like spiderman, instead of red he'll be green.

Every game has it's heritage, it's iconic characters with their unique and distinctive looks that sets them apart. It's like a trademark but for characters. It's part of the image that represents not only the game but the series itself. I don't think straying away from their roots is a good idea, for any game. It's a slate that many fans have already liked through out the time, and grown along with it. So it's hard to see such a concept change.

The original leviathan was hardly non final fantasy.

People take it way too far when they say something isnt final fantasy enough for their tastes. Like when the concept art for AF gear was released, people complained that the freaking colour of the dragoon gear wasn't "final fantasy" enough for their liking. It gets to the point where it stifles creativity and encourages a generic, uninspired, rehashed vehicle for FF fans to relive their nostalgia but offers nothing else for anyone else who wants to see something creative and new.

The game has gotten in touch with its final fantasy side quite enough already.

but isnt that what the old FF14 team did all the way wrong?

no typical final fantasy features, no final fantasy style ingame? no typical final fantasy jobs?

so this isnt really an argument... really.

    ZZZZZZZzzzzz

Boring. Wake me up when this FF8 re-enactment is over so I can play a new, inspired, creative FF title instead of hackneyed remake.

i know what you mean, but i neither like the old design (if its really Levi) nor the new one for 100%. the old one was for me way too realistic. it looked like a koi fish to me.. it was not bad, but not art design enough for me.

whereas the new one has the artistic design, not that realistic... but also we saw those kind of leviathan appearance in FF8, FF11 before. almost in the same style
    well lets see.

i think levi will be revealed after garuda and titan..im so excited to see the first artworks to shiva (which wont be in the near future).. because shiva is my alltime favourite. and she always was the summon with the biggest differences in appearance through the ff series. im looking forward to see her in FF14

For everything in the mmo series of xi and XIV colors have been muted. More now on XIV than anything when it comes representing the heritage of the series itself. I haven't found a single person in my ls nor who've I've spoken to that doesn't like the dragoon armor to be honest. They say it's the most bad ass looking one. I was surprised when they gave the red armors, giving off the old classic feel of warrior. The sea serpent doesn't represent leviathan in any way, like I mentioned in my past post. Aqua blue, dark green, or harsh blue is nowhere to be found in it. Rather dull brown colors and just a dead feel to it. The features that make the leviathan stand out, are not present either.

To be honest this game had no real final fantasy feeling to it, other than similar mobs to xi, nearly identical races as xi, and the classes that it came with. What else, chocobos and moogles? We didn't get chocobos till 1.19 and moogles/malevolant moogle are now gonna be more prominent in the 1.20 patch. We're missing the whole group of Primals, the only thing we have is Ifrit.
Along with hamlet defense, which I can only assume it's gonna be something similar to garrison. Not to mention the mobs show in the concept art page. I hadn't seen a cyclopes like mob from SE in ages other than "The Eye".

This game is not overwhelmed with the feeling of final fantasy, it's lacking that feeling.

How can a final fantasy game within the series have TOO much of it's own anyways? What are we gonna do? Add some random games protagonist to it? It's an iconic series, with it's key points that will always be there. I can only see that you simply don't like the originals making a come back. That's fine, you can bash on it. You might as well dislike every other Primals ever made, cause they are basically remakes of their predecessors. It's the way they rehash those characters and give them life in the story that sets them apart from all the other games.

Ifrit and Titan are perfect the way they are. But im sure all the "FF-feelers" out there (for lack of a better term) beg to differ.

    "OMG IFRIT ISNT FAT ENOUGH"

    "OMG TITAN IS TOOOO FAT".

It's like Goldy-locks syndrome or something.

"Omg this rock isnt FF enough."

"Omg this colour isnt FF enough."

"Omg this wall isnt FF enough."

Eventually you just need to learn to shutup, with all due respect (i.e., no respect).

For me, atleast certain mobs were fine. The gobbue are in, the cactuars are too. But there is a large amount of monsters that didn't make it to the game. The rest of what makes the FF is yet to be seen. I could accept the not so typical jobs being there, just not the gameplay.

you say it... certain ... and that does not mean -many- typical Final Fantasy things. and thats why yoshida stated he wants to change this...

and many things changed since then.. and will, in the near future. like you can see in concept arts like these (leviathan)
