I'm only for situational jumping, the only one that would look and feel right.
If I feel glued down (which I don't) I just call out my chocobo and [Flee]

ahh i see. will im guess im saying there is no way jump was not added because a group of 250 skilled devs could not get it to work. I saying im sure it was because of the reaction to this forum people.
Of course i could be wrong lol.
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...805-20-2011%29No, the marked difference is:
"We will implement it" = It will be implemented.
"Examination of implementation" = Looking at the idea of implementing/how it would be/uses etc, not confirming it will be implemented.
You stated he said it will be implemented by end of summer.

Am I the only person who would simply love to see Advent Children-style jumping in the game?
Just wait til they add pvp and jumping, itll be like every other mmo where we all jump fight around each other, yay i cant wait.... yet its us ffxi players trying to screw your hopes and dreams right, there are already plenty of games you can jump and swim.
I think such mechanics would be fun in a different kind of game. But for FFXIV it would seem out of place. Even the R46 cutscene looked stupid and out of place to me. I'd like to see tomb raider jumping and platform elements involved in dungeons though, with that being said.
Blade and soul has the Advent Children kind of jumping and fighting, but for FFXIV, i would like them to tone it down a bit it (not that they'd ever do it anyway)

Please, show them the light, O savior, O player of the FFXI MMO. Save them from the tyranny that is jumping and swimming!
Really sad.
FFXI was my first and most memorable MMO, I played it since US PC release. Unlike many others, though, I don't become emotionally unstable at the mere thought of swimming and jumping. Swimming isn't even new to Final Fantasy. Lol.
They said they are adding jumping and have yet to retract that. They said they would add swimming if there was content that called for it. I wouldn't be upset if they decided not to add jumping. Some of these comments are hilarious, though. Like "how dare you add jumping or swimming to my MMO? The mere thought of it makes my skin crawl."
Lol, thanks for the laughs.

I agree, but I think it's mostly due to the fact that we're so used to seeing our characters glued to the ground. Trying rolling the picture around in your head for a few moments - it took me several before I could really imagine it without it seeming weird.
I completely agree with you. Jumping and swimming are standard features today and they definitely should have been in this game. I mean an mmo is all about exploring this massive world and players don't need these artificial constraints in their way. After reading this I'm not sure if you are against or for jumping/swimming :S .... But anyways as for the part of being generic, having a lack of features that others MMORPGS have does not make you unique, just inferior. While not having Jumping and swimming does not break or make a game, it does prevent you from having content and gameplay aspects the competition has and that in marketing is a weakness no matter how you see it.
Since FFXI didn't have these features I would have thought that they would have been brought up some time during the brainstorming process for FFXIV. Why they were never brought up, or why they were turned down, and why we don't have servers that can support these features is anyone's guess.
Now if FFXIV was planned to be a more action based game and we were able to sprint for short periods of time, dodge and roll out of the way of enemy attacks but we couldn't jump...I could understand that. You could see that they were trying something different and that the kind of jumping we usually think of might not have fit in their vision. But since they have made a pretty generic grinding mmo it doesn't really make sense that they are missing these features.
