The way I see it is this. Illberd is driven by his loss of Ala Mhigo, but he knows the Eorzean alliance wouldn't try to take it back without a reason to. He gathered followers, and manipulated them into thinking they could somehow take Balsars Wall, but that wasn't the true plan. The real plan was to jumpstart Eorzea, and Garlemald into war by attacking the wall, and summoning a primal. Obviously the Garleans would blame Eorzea, and take the false attack as an act of war. The fact that the attackers wore fake grand company uniforms, made it even easier to blame, and sacrificing them only made it harder to prove. The primal may also have other purposes. It could possibly be used to attack Ala Mhigo, or Garlemald. This HW ending wasn't meant to be as flashy, or dramatic in my opinion. It was meant to make us think. I'm still very excited for Stormblood.

Perhaps we were spoil by the ending of 2.55 and the beginning of heavensward is the reason why we felt disappointed by the end of 3.55-3.56. I hope the beginning of stormblood is as good as heavensward.

Does this mean Yda is likely Zenos? That just sounds nigh offensive if so.

I know I've been saying that I don't make concrete predictions anymore; that I just deal with probabilities and potential points of view and then roll my eyes at the "I called it! Praise meeee!" and such (unless it's that Gaius lives, because obvious Gaius not Deadsar). I'm putting that aside for a moment.

If Zenos is Yda I will eat my mortarboard.

    not really.

nobody was expecting a big set up like the end of 2.5 but we at least were expecting a little closure to it all.

instead we got someone on stage bending over and farting. followed by the curtains closing and the ushers pushing everyone towards the exit wich was blocked by booths selling tickets to the next play >_>

if they didnt hold on to the last part of the story like it was a big deal then maybe the disappointment would be more manageable

Considering how much SE tends to shy from having any character past 25 in the "main character" slot of a Final Fantasy I figured this was exactly what happened.

After sometime to reflect, I wish that we had gotten a bit more for foreshadowing on Doma. There has been so little mention of Doma/the Far East in the game when compared to all of the buildup they have done for Ala Mhigo that I'm afraid that the Orthard/Doma plot going to end up like the Ul'dah plot in Heavensward, but with a new city and housing district. Everytime I had to back to Ul'dah in the middle of the Heavensward plot it felt awkward and disjointed and ending up being a disservice to both plot threads. Hopefully they will integrate the two threads better in Stormblood.
