Don't be surprised when Red Mage has zero healing spells.Somehow I saw this coming, it makes sence that RDM is based in INT but how is that going to help white magic? Are RDMs going to have there own version of Cleric stance (possibly Convert) and go from INT -> MND? Hmm.. As far as the gear is concerned, putting RDM in robes is going to be the norm if is sharing caster gear. Its an easy fix and takes less time/work to do. Only way around this is of course glamour which i'm sure they figure people are going to do anyway. So I guess we either glam RDM AF until next expansion or make up your own look I guess ^^;
Why would the RDM have healing spells? It's designed as a caster DPS.Somehow I saw this coming, it makes sence that RDM is based in INT but how is that going to help white magic? Same as MNK, Monk in past series have ability to heal too but they change it as self heal and healing buff. Mantra in series always be ability to heal for monk. White magic can adapt to be support buff for party and don't forget white magic in this game count Aero and Stone too. They might mean that two as white magic.Somehow I saw this coming, it makes sence that RDM is based in INT but how is that going to help white magic? He's talking about stuff like the Vermillion Cloak that was basically a hoodie. XI's RDM looked snazzy dressed in an outfit obviously inspired by the french musketeers (AF1 and AF2). AF3 went off the deep end, though if you dim the lights enough and squint your eyes you can almost pretend it looks like something you'd actually fight in (nevermind the irony in it being called Swordsman's Set despite having no melee stats).
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
Going to be funny seeing a sword wielder running around in a bath robes. I was hoping they would get a unique set now that they're working on a system for raids to only drop gear to parties when said job is present.
My point is that I trust the XIV team to make outfits that fit RDM because they clearly understand what a RDM is visually. This may actually improve the diversity of caster gear and see more guantlets and capes than robes. Casters do have a few diverse options, but I feel like RDM will push the boundary.
I never said it looked bad, just that it didn't really look like a classic RDMXI's RDM looked snazzy dressed in an outfit obviously inspired by the french musketeers (AF1 and AF2). I don't think it matters much that RDM shares appearance with other casters. It's not like there are ample horn options for Summoners beyond artifact sets. Besides there's always glamour. The Songbird set might look pretty good on RDM.
I stand by my original post after seeing that.He's talking about stuff like the Vermillion Cloak that was basically a hoodie.

Exactly this. Yoshida stated it's a pure DPS caster class. No MND is needed.
F: Red Mage is a pure DPS?
Y: Yes, it’s a pure DPS.

I'd be surprised if RDM didn't have some self-healing. SMN has always had Physic, even before Scholar was added, and BLM was able to cross-class Physick. The spell just did not properly scale with those two classes is all, and probably because it can be used on other characters. I think self-heals for DPS are probably in the works, especially given how melee DPS can generally take Second Wind from Pugilist.
