people will glam bikinis and idol outfit anyways

I really don't like where Monk and SAM seems to be going.
It's almost as if they're presenting to us a "pick SAM or Monk" type deal. Even their playstyle is said to be similar. It's going to be extremely disappointing if SAM is just Monk with a sword.
People wanted DPS SAM, there's the result.

Yet somehow people were OK with the "DNC" being a copy of a MNK from the first part of the trailer.
But I agree, would be sad if SAM turns out to be a MNK with a different name/appearance.

I really think people are overreacting to nothing.
NIN shared gear with MNK for a while, and still shares accessories with BRD and MCH. Are their playstyles similar?
Or BRD and MCH for that matter. Or BLM and SMN? ...well they weren't prior to level 60 at least.
SAM mechanic sounds more like a DPS focus version of Warrior mechanic from what we were told involving stacking buffs from attcking enemies and then spending it on those quick high damage charge attack skills

Alright, we should stop spreading this misinformation.
Ninja only shared old gear with Monk. Everything from its implementation in to the game and beyond was Scouting. They never released new gear that was shared with Monk.
They did this so they didn't have to go back and make Nijna specific gear for every little unique piece of gear I assume.
Casters share gear based on role, not specific jobs. Bard and MCH do share gear though, and look how they're treated. One was slapped with a charge mechanic just because the other had one.
I fear it's going to be the same with SAM and Monk. We're going to play similarly for the sake of balance between us. Yoshi did specifically mention that SAM's system could be compared to Monks..
What scares me even more about sharing gear is how much more popular Samurai is compared to Monk.
I mean, even ignoring the community hype, Yoshi himself walked unto the stage cosplaying as a Samurai. I don't remember any other job getting this treatment. I fear that when it comes to gear design, things will come closer to fitting Samurai rather than Monk and we won't have any unique hear for ourselves anymore...

Yoshi-P actually cosplayed as Black Mage in 2014.Yoshi himself walked unto the stage cosplaying as a Samurai. I don't remember any other job getting this treatment. And personally i don't really think most of the current gear 'fits' Monk, eastern gear would fit it much better imo.

I am just disappointed as i do play multiple jobs and love to look different for each, now i would need to re-glam every time?
Don't they know by now that end game is glam

Please, It isn't robe. It's COAT!!. RDM always wear coat style and a lot of caster gear in 14 have many coat that fit with with RDM style if you don't have bias. Don't mix longcoat and tailcoat with robe, they are different type of garment. Many people can glamour caster gear and make them don't look like robe style. If you can't do it, it mean you lack of creative when we have a lot of choice to do.
