The anecdote that your friend got top 100 (which honestly is not that big of an achievement, plenty of people have gotten top 100 this season with ~40% winrates) is not a sufficient argument for saying "we don't need chat" or that "chat isn't helpful". Yes, players who want to improve will of course take matters into their own hand to do so, but the idea that we can't plan strategy at the beginning of the game, can't ask or talk about slight adjustments mid-match (e.g. Please give me MP, please stand in my bubble, please turn on your tank stance, etc. etc.) is completely ridiculous in a team based "competitive" game mode, just like how the chat/GC restriction in Frontlines was completely unwarranted. Not to mention just how clunky the system has been implemented.

Again, "likes" on a forum post is neither a sufficient nor compelling argument, especially considering the nature of people on these forums (typically spiteful/vindictive by default, e.g. I don't like PvP so I'm happy that the PvP players don't like this change) and that the people most likely to use the official forum are the people who typically don't even PvP in the first place. And that a lot of people do not read/or possibly cannot read the official forums. But even with this in mind, the post below you for the opposing position has ~10%? more likes (as of this post) which says a lot considering the place we're in. I wonder what a "poll" for/against the chat ban would be if they asked players right before/after they entered a Feast match?

There are so many better ways they could've handled this situation instead of slapping on this chat ban. A "Vote Mute" function, a Cross-server blacklist, better GMing, an "Auto-mute" function if you get reported by so many players within a certain time period, etc. I mean, you can already disable your chat (pro tip: this works in any content too!) by right clicking and hiding it if you're afraid someone is going to criticize you for making a mistake.
