People who play Dragoon don't act like they need a new DPS to keep enjoying Dragoon, do they? Would there really be Black Mages whining about their role if Red Mage had been a melee job instead of a caster, even though Red Mage has nothing to do with the state of Black Mage?
I don't think the issue is that people need a new tank or healer job to continue to enjoy playing an existing tank or healer job. I prefer to tank and will always prefer to tank, and, given the three options, I have settled in on the option I enjoy the most. However, a new tank job means a new job for the role I enjoy, and I might end up enjoying the new option more. If we get only 2 new dps jobs, people who enjoy playing in the tank or healer role do not have as much to look forward to because, even though RDM and whatever else might look cool, they are never going to seriously play those DPS jobs, whereas if a tank or healer job is also released, they have a potential new main job if they end up enjoying the playstyle of that new job.
