Nothing confirmed until 4.0 goes live and people can play the class (or unless Fanfest gives us some lore info on the job), but...
The running theory is that Red Mage is linked to Sharlayan for a number of reasons.
Lore: Lorewise, Black and White Magic has been taboo since the War of the Magi resulted in the Calamity that flooded Eorzea. Red Mage has been stated to use Red Magic; a combination of White and Black Magic. For this to be possible, Red Mage would have to of developed outside of Eorzea, yet had connections to Eorzea, which is the origin for White and Black Magic. There has been a running theory for a while used to explain the magical feats of the Scions and other Sharlayans, which states that Sharlayan was founded by dissident White and Black Mages during the War of the Magi, who fled Eorzea, founded Sharlayan together, and put the focus of their studies on Learning and Knowledge, rather than power and ambition.
Even assuming that this theory is untrue, the fact remains that Sharlayan remains the (currently) most logical place for Red Mages to develop, given the Sharlayan drive for learning, not dissimilar to how they're bringing back Summoners. Its a highly magical society that doesn't scruple to employ or delve into magic others consider forbidden (look at all the Bound-Voidsent Guardians in the Great Gubal Library, for example).
Aesthetic: The reveal for Red Mage showed us (presumably) AF gear which has a distinctive Sharlayan flair to it when compared to other Sharlayan fashions such as the updated outfits of the Scions, the gear from the Great Gubal Library (Normal), and the Tomestone of Scripture set: Shire Gear. Likewise, the Magicked Crystal Medium offhand is noted to float, and the only other class to have a weapon which floats, is Astrologian, which also comes from Sharlayan.
Alisae: As of Patch 3.4, Alisae's development in combat reveals a very Red Mage like combat style of combining swordsmanship with spellcraft.
The only thing I heard about RDM was it is starting in Uldah, and that was in the live stream at JP fanfest.
They shared lore saying its Sharlayan?
Would be quite funny if it was Raubahn. I mean he looks nothing fitting to be a Red Mage lol, but I just had a quest in the MSQ where he was blasting off fire magics and jumping around the arena between magic and melee combat (of course, Immortal Flame theme fits well enough- I just think it'd be funny if the big bull turns out to be a Red Mage XD). Maybe his child, getting the elegance from his mother (he's adopted by Raubahn, but like.. we know what Raubhan is up to... lol) and the unique magic and combat flow from his father - lalafell red mage~
Talking about the shirt, I thought it was Blue Mage.. The whole getting bit and gaining powers, using that which hurt you to make you stronger, the strong red vs blue theme in the trailer, that two DD jobs seems like a great way to kill the queue times, while taking damage is greatly fitting for a blue mage job theme (tank), and blue mage has fit well in eastern themed areas (like FFXI's). Although maybe they did three? Or like half way through will introduce a third one? Iirc they didn't really want to do three so close together again, but that was a while ago - could have changed their mind.
The whole author name of a comic thing seems super sketchy but the spiderman samurai is pretty good. Also the art from the recent live stream, big Katana wielder in one of the arts. I thought he was leaning to make Samurai a DD though, and two DD again is just like good bye queue times for other DD classes lol. Happened with Ninja, some people were paying tanks and healers for a short while XD. Which I then also thought back to Blue Mage, if Blue Mage fits so well to be tank (imo) then Samurai if coming out near same time could be more easily placed/argued into DD.
I don't really see dancer besides the girl's outfit and some of her movements, but who knows could be~! I really like Blue mage, so I'm hoping for that, but I wouldn't be sad about Samurai either.

Still zero evidence to support claims it was trolling and not simply the far more likely situation of assets intended to be used but changed.https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme..._icons_likely/
I don't know if this is considered "trolling", but nothing came of these. Also there are tons of files that never came of anything in the data mine stuff.
As far as the SAM files go in the dats, SCH was found the same way >.> During Beta 2.0 SCH dats were found and then there was the same arguments on the forums.. "It's not SCH!!! They wouldn't do that!" SE remained silent..and then SCH came out lol. I am leaning towards SAM being in the expansion now for sure, just waiting for the big man himself to confirm it.
I doubt it would be Raubahn. If anything Raubahn would be BLU and not RDM.Would be quite funny if it was Raubahn. He fought a lot like a BLU during the scene that you mentioned. One of the abilities that he used was actually a lot like Ifrit's Radiant Plume (Which places red circles in the outer part of the arena and then the inner part).
Also (I know a lot of people hate it when XI is brought up but..) there was an NPC in XI named Raubahn who was a blue mage. I know the games aren't related at all but I thought it was a nice reference and perhaps it meant something.
Oh nice I like that too, would also fit nicely because Raubhan seems more of a tank type, also known as a bull (another animal) and has made a sound that doesn't even sound human. Pretty sure the armor or something like it is in game and is for tanks too. Blue really makes sense to be that sort, unless they just change how it works a bit (entirely possible). I mean it doesn't HAVE to be tank, but at least most easy fit seems tank.I doubt it would be Raubahn. If anything Raubahn would be BLU and not RDM.

I do like the mention from FFXI though, I know people aren't a fan of FFXI sometimes because of whatever reason but a lot of same members on the team from that game and reasons why they like and fit particular names together. SE loves to carry things through to other games. So if you find a reference its high chance to be done again later haha.
Anyway, love my leaders and hope Raubahn gets more treatment lol. Watched the cutscene with him fighting and was like YES, MORE! Such a boss. XD.

To my understanding the JP fanfest did not say WHERE RDM would be unlocked, only that it was in a 2.0 area. Ul'Dah is just speculation.
Hence why I said "I don't know if this is considered trolling" ?
You are basically repeating what I said haha. Just linking this to show that indeed stuff IS in the dats and sometimes never used. And if we really wanna show where stuff is in the DAT's and not used I can pull up quite a lot of things...this is just the example someone was saying earlier with no link.
and Shougun I agree, a directors name would be really odd. With Yoshida though, anything is possible lol. and yea beyond her outfit and the cloth attacks, I have no idea anymore. If they announce dancer at all I would be surprised for real. If it's SAM, since its in the DAT files..meh, no shocker there..
Yea he said it in the paid live stream..its somewhere on the reddit mega thread for the JP fanfest if you wanna dig. I was like "huh..uldah, that's random I guess"
