And SMN can just get more and more summonsThe game isn't designed for that. (and if it did, most of the abilities would be useless, which is the entire reason that skills are being streamlined... they aren't going to add more skill bloat)
I highly doubt that the battle system is being changed THAT much, from what it sounds like is that the battle system is being streamlined and made easier to exist in its current form. As well as this is the visual cues.
Yoshi P specifically said that this method does not feel like BLU in his eyes, and he did not like it. He could have changed his mind, but I doubt it.

So their deleting MNK and adding in BLU? Because that "blue man" is literally a monk, Yoshi-P confirmed he is wearing the new Monk AF gear
We also have this render what is the MNK AF gear which to no surprise he's got the monk stance and I don't see much blue in his armor.
I know you are probably saying it's just a "hint" to blue mage, but it really isn't.
Literally balancing nightmare.
If I would implement BLU in the Game, I would make him learn his skills through Job Quests where he has to go to each Beast Tribe and learn one (or more skills) from that tribe. How? Fighting the NPC who will teach the skill. He is hit by eat, and learn it after defeting the enemy. that way he would learn buffs, debuffs, healing, defensive and offensive skills/spells from that, and they could even have the element of the primal (Amal'ja Fire, Sylph Lightning, ...)
While I'd want BLU to be added, I'm like you in thinking Yoshida wont actually do it, unless he make something "Almost" like it, as he did with SMN, or worse, AST (Which is Time Mage mixed with Gambler, which was unnecessary, and could have remained Time Mage in its current build. Heck they even made the AF for Time Mage, only to change it into a crafted armor, and recolor it)
But I disagree with your logic.
Looking at FFXI as an example, if you equip spells, you wouldnt have skill bloat, as you'd have a limited number of "Blue Magic" slots. (and some abilities might not be tied to those slots, which are basic Weapon Skills/CDs.)
Next, looking at how equipping spells in XI granted you special passive traits, Id change that into every spell falls into a category, and you need certain "Categories" to complete your chains.
So lets pretend there are 3 "categories" of spells, A, B, and C.
Literally becomes "Cast A type spells to pump up B type spells, and B spells build up stacks for C type spells."
Or how ever they wish to handle it.
My personal interest would be picking between the 3 type of DPS in play style.
Melee attacks with positionals.
Ranged Cast bar damage spells Spells, usually needing to watch stacks.
Ranged short cast bar spells that do less dmg, but offer support like BRD/MCH.
Id then want a limited number of slots for spells which can either give DPS boost (A self Haste for example), a mitigation boost (Mighty Guard for more defense), and a heal (White Wind) and if BLU ends up a DPS like RDM, then you'd use the DPS increase for hard content, but instead equip the other two in more solo friendly encounters.
(Pretty much what DPS do at lower levels, soloing content, needing heals, so they cross class something to help them survive)
in prior FFs, not all enemies had magic to learn, so its not like we need a spell list of 999 possible spells either.
Though my suggestion is the equivalent of making 3 new classes, to which is another reason it most likely wouldnt be made.
Yoshida's comments are not always set in stone. Do you remember the whole FC vs. Private housing thing?
Also, the only reason why people are saying BLU won't work is because they can't get FFXI's version out of their mind.

Yeah but thus far all of his comments have been about putting stuff in then not putting it in. Like..oh I will get SMN pets, then instead we get glamours lol.
This time it would be backwards. He would be discussing a job that they would be announcing in a month and the fine details of it >.< I mean with SE, anything is possible..but I really don't see it happeningI can't really see the PR allowing him to do that, it would be a new thing haha
There's no skill bloat with a cross-class or FFXI type system of equipping spells, only balance issues. And likely everyone would equip the "correct" Blue Magic spells and there'd be no room for experimentation, but bloat definitely wouldn't be any more of an issue than it is for any other job.
