Thanks for setting me straight on that. ^^

So in the current patch past dungeon gear would cost you Lore as it's the lesser tomestone. However; most likely (as you stated), Lore will probably be phased out in 3.5, so in 3.5 the tomestone needed for past dungeon gear would then be Scripture. You use the past tomestone for past dungeon gear/old tomestone gear/crafting items.

Lore is unlikely to be phased out until 4.0 - when Scripture would no longer be weekly capped.
