IX had a job system, but she either did not play it, did not pay much attention to it, or was too young to adopt the concept of the job system at the time. FFVII, VIII, and X basically allowed every character to learn everything, and the only thing that separated the characters from one another was their looks and limit breaks.

What lifting the gear restrictions would do for me personally is to for instance, my whm could be a caster version of my palidan, my blm could be a caster version of my drk, my warrior could be my astro in tank form.

I do this already but like ive said a few time casters cant wear heavy armour, so this is why Im not opposed to the ops idea. So yes lifting these restrictions you be beneifical for someone who actually cares to make sense of the job system in ths game by not making them so separate when by nature they cant be because your doing them all one the same charcter Im sorry that you disagree with this. I know what game Im playing and I play this game because I grew up playing 7 through 10.
The RP community is one of the biggest reasons why the status quo needs to remain that way. If you had played any FF installment prior to VII you would have a better understanding of why it is utterly ridiculous to see a WHM in DRG AF armor healing a group. Forget all the pig suits, bikinis, reindeer costumes, jump potions, and illusions. This is about maintaining the integrity and image of the franchise. THAT is what you're contesting, and you will never win. Like ever. And when players such as yourself keep using the costumes to structure your arguments, it makes we wish SE never would have released them. Not because of any substance it may or may not have, but because SE gave you an inch, and you take a mile. There are SOOOOO many options available to you, but you want the one that you can't have.
