Now that Red Mage has been confirmed as a dps, I don't think they're gonna make Samurai a dps too. However making Samurai a tank will not create more tanks, like Dark Knight, it will create less War/PLD/DKN. People that don't like tanking won't change their mind, whichever tanking class you bring into the game.

Except it did create new tanks, I didn't play Tanks at all (outside of Fate leveling) till Dark Knight was released and I know I am not the only one.

That might be true, but how many do so consistently? Relying on data that shows that people got tanks to 60 isn't quite the same as how many got to 60 and are still reliably playing as one. I got two to 60, but refuse to tank unless two of the other party members are in the FC, and even then getting me to tank is a bit of a stretch.

Someone made mention of it before but an increase is still an increase. All it takes is for a job or role to appeal to someone in order for someone to just try and perhaps enjoy it and stick to it.

Right, but yet that doesn't diminish any of the responsibility that comes with tanking, which is what typically pushes people away from the role. If we're talking about the health of the game then it would be in their interest to make SAM; which is typically one of the fan favorites, a DPS in attempt to pull more new people into the game that then could try out all the different roles, than to make SAM a tank that may not have as big of a draw.

At least that's how I see it in my eyes.

Don't get me wrong, I see it that way too but we also can't just make every new class a DPS or else those who enjoy tanking will eventually get bored too and new people seeing nothing new to try, may still refuse to try tanking. That and I can only imagine the massive wait times like when Ninja was released.

It doesn't really matter if they stick with it at 60, the fact they provided queue pops through all the leveling content is more than enough to warrant their inclusion. New jobs won't incentivize tanks to continue to queue at level 60 content, it's up to SE to provide that incentive through other means. If they actually made the adventurer in need reward something worth a damn like extra end game currency or something towards a mount etc instead of a piddly amount of gil it would definitely increase the number of people willing to tank 60 stuff.

That fully depends on how they level. For example, my PLD entered DF maybe.. five to eight times including the two I did when I was sixty. If someone is put off by responsibility, player interaction, or fear of performance failure they may resort to Fate farming or PotD farming, and seeing as PotD comes with an added bonus of being able to make decent money there's really no reason not to.

At the very least an equal number if not considerably more dps players went the same route so it'd honestly balance out to a degree. Just because you personally didn't do it doesn't mean tons of others didnt. No one can accurately comment on the most widely used form of leveling because no one has the data for it.

On top of that, returning and new players may have no idea about PotD and thus may not even use it ever or for a long time.
