Except it did create new tanks, I didn't play Tanks at all (outside of Fate leveling) till Dark Knight was released and I know I am not the only one.Now that Red Mage has been confirmed as a dps, I don't think they're gonna make Samurai a dps too. However making Samurai a tank will not create more tanks, like Dark Knight, it will create less War/PLD/DKN. People that don't like tanking won't change their mind, whichever tanking class you bring into the game.

That might be true, but how many do so consistently? Relying on data that shows that people got tanks to 60 isn't quite the same as how many got to 60 and are still reliably playing as one. I got two to 60, but refuse to tank unless two of the other party members are in the FC, and even then getting me to tank is a bit of a stretch.

I'm surprised nobody has made a "MAKE SAMURAI A HEALER" thread yet. Instead of swordmanship they would practice the art of tea ceremony and haiku to soothe the soul!
But more seriously, I really doubt they're going to do another sword user for Stormblood after Red Mage. Dancer and Blue Mage seem more likely now. Or maybe something new! Who knows.

oh wow, I didn't see that.
I love you all.
Not true. When 3.0 dropped we saw dps being the adventurer in need in leveling roulette specifically because the new job options convinced players who didn't normally tank or heal to give those roles a try. Releasing 2 dps jobs with no healers or tanks alongside them will definitely lengthen queue times, possibly even harder than nin's release didWhy does everyone think that the shortage of tanks is a result of not enough tank classes/jobs? People don't tank because it has a decent amount of responsibility attached to it. All adding another tank class/job will do is shift the actual number tanks playing to a different one.
Rune fencer for one which should have taken DRK place first of all and make DRK a DPS, but I don't need to name a list of tanks that's for the ffxiv producers to figure out. And by your logic we will not have anymore tanks after they implement the "last viable tank" option

In what reality is this anywhere close to as popular as a Samurai? Rune fencer only exists in a single Final Fantasy game, created because they had already burnt through most other recognizable and iconic jobs. Even if you broaden it to Mystic Knights, still isn't included in anywhere near the number of times Samurai has been. On top of that, the job has an identity that is even more similar to the existing tanks than even Samurai.
Nice cop-out on the whole "that's for the ffxiv producers to figure out" too.
We're done here.
lol how is this a cop-out. I am here to play SE game am not here to make it for them, what I say is merely a suggestion nothing more nothing less. I keep having to repeat myself but what ever SE chooses to do has already been done.
Also SAM not even confirmed, I truly believe its going to be blue mage as new job anyways this is for fun or so i thought till you got all crazy serious about it all.
Reason I believe its blue mage is cause of trailer at end they are both glowing one red and one blue, yes they both monks, but I always look way into SE trailers for the little things
It's a cop-out because instead of stepping up to the plate and actually providing valid and credible options (because you can't) you instead handwaved it as not your problem.
SAM has more evidence to be included than BLU now at this point, especially with Yoshida's statements yesterday about BLU. So unless he was just parroting lies, BLU likely isn't going to be in 4.0, and if it is, it's going to be a non group content job, so solo job only which will simply disappoint most everyone. Also SAM not even confirmed, I truly believe its going to be blue mage as new job anyways this is for fun or so i thought till you got all crazy serious about it all.
