Uh, yes, it's a Dancer.


If any of you actually watched the trailer closely, you could easily draw the conclusion. If you watch the trailer again at 0.25x speed when they start fighting, a long red sleeve comes out her gauntlet as she swipes down on him. Also you'll notice a "Golden" line as well which would be the hidden blade. In FF Tactics Dancers used "Cloth" as a weapon or dagger in other instances, this incorporates both. Some people say "Oh but she's using Monk moves", Dancer is a subclass from Monk, duh. Others speculate "Red Mage" being released because Yoshida said something about Scarlet Witch. Obviously it's not a coincidence that the chakra of said dancer is "Red". Yoshida could be playing mind games.

Other than the costume, I don't think anything in the CS screams Dancer. When they start their battle, she takes the same stance as the WoL MNK. They trade blow for blow, perfectly countering each other. At 1:22 the sound effect indicates that she did Howling Fist before the WoL (whose hand is surrounded by wind) throws a punch that does the exact same sound effect. The only thing the trailer indicates to me is that the WoL is a terrible MNK. He uses Fists of Wind at the end and she uses Fists of Fire like a good MNK.

Yoshida didn't say anything about Scarlet Witch, he wore a Scarlet Witch shirt during the keynote at Fan Fest. Last NA Fanfest, he wore a Batman shirt (Dark Knight) and at the EU Fanfest he wore a 007 shirt (Machinist). So there is precedence that his shirts are usually clues so grasping at Red Mage isn't all that difficult. Meanwhile there is no precedence that trailers have ever hinted at a new job. The Heavensward trailer showed Dragoons... and that's it.

As for her chakra being "red", if only there were moves already in the game which would make them glow blue and glow red... something like Fists of Wind and Fists of Fire which are Monk moves.

As for Dancer being a subclass of Monk, they have repeatedly stated that they are trying to move away from the class system. DRK, AST, and MCH don't have base classes the way the original jobs do and I highly doubt they're going to reverse that position.

I agree that Dancer may very well be one of the new jobs but the trailer is not some incredible proof that it's there because she's wearing an outfit which has flowing cloth while performing MNK moves.

Yet in the trailer most of her offensive strikes are martial arts style hand and feet strikes and almost all of the readily identifiable moves are existing Monk or Pugilist moves. Even the bouncing, "dance" type move she does during the break in combat looks like Featherfoot. So we're arguing that she's Dancer because she uses one strike which might be construed to have a blade, out of the 20 or so moves that she performs, the remainder all being more akin to Monk.
