I don't understand why they made so much option for crystal sands...and only one for Umbrite...The Anima questline in HW has actually been very well designed. My only complaint with it has been the Umbrite portion of the Reconditioned (i240) stage—it would have been nice to have at least one other avenue in which to get them. I got tired of Esoterics farming very quickly.
The thing is with the current content, it not rewarding as what you do is outdated as soon as next patch comes out. A person could even skip a entire patch and play the game like that other content didn't even exist.
If you really think Challenge Log Bingo and what I suggested are the same thing... you're going to be really let down tomorrow. xD It's okay though I'll be playing bingo anyway. That's just how I roll.

Having played FFXIV since 1.0 closed beta and with two legacy accounts, I'd like to point out FFXIV V1 was nothing like V2, it wasn't a story gated by forced groups every few levels, for all that it lacked it was a nice change from the group-or-die mentality of FFXI .. sadly Yoshi brought that 1990s game model to FFXIV in V2 and the game was made the worse for it.
The fact that the entire expansion is gated behind having to complete the main story of ARR with its many HARD MODE trials and other border-line 'hard core' content is why the number of players declined, the game requires far too high a player skill simply to follow the main story and unlock the expansion.
I'm sure you find that content easy, many don't and so are blocked from playing beyond the mid levels of ARR, is it any wonder the number of players playing is far, far below the number of accounts that exist?

So what do you want then? Do you want to run around in the same gear for months while all you get is a new dungeon? or Perhaps a raid that only 1% of the server has time to finish because it requires days and days of "training" with a static?
No, I rather have plenty of content and story to follow every 3-4 months that also allows me to update my characters gear.
Actually the Op was suggesting that Yoshi has kinda shunned the 1.0 and legacy players (alot of them were former ffxi players or dual subscription players) who supported and enjoyed the game even after sticking it out to cater to coming and going players or in a sense "everyone" instead of the people who actually love the final fantasy franchise and the original ffxiv pre 2.0... He merely used some ffxi stuff as reference.Upon seeing the thread title I was curious as to what I may find inside, but then I saw that it's just anotherSkizzleFizzle thread. I don't need to read a single word of the OP to know it's pretty much going to be a long-winded rant of "Woe is me, why wont SE cater to an extremely niche audience?! I don't think FFXIV needs to be more like XI but here's why I think it needs to be more like XI!" or some other nonsense along those lines.
Anyone who's played ffxi knows there was stuff that worked well and stuff that didn't work well from ffxi. This game doesn't need to be like ffxi but if you played 1.0 or in some cases both at the same time while really supporting the game even before shutdown and instantly came into this, you would at the very least feel estranged for better or worse.
He's kinda sentimental but I don't think he wants the game to be like ffxi, he just feels somewhat betrayed? Like legacy opinions are now worth the same or less as a person coming and going I guess. I can see where hes coming from but yoshi is doing something that is nigh impossible to begin with. You just can't please everyone even if you are claiming to try so. I don't understand how he even is claiming something like this. Haven't seen a poll from SE in regards to the game in a long time, yet alone a survey of any kind?
Dunno, I feel like I get his message but thats because I'm in his shoes in the same boat.
I would understand...if they awarded more esoterics for leveling/50/MSQ roulette. The MSQ requires the leveling dungeons to be run and thus, you need to constantly have a high pool of players running them to keep the queue times decent for new players. The relic typically fulfills the purpose of revitalizing "old" content, so the tomes are a decent enough incentive - issue is just that aetherochemical research facility is more efficient than those roulettes, thereby compromising the incentive and thus the function.
Ah yea cause two new dungeons (that will rerun over and over till next patch) and a handful of MSQs every 3 months is plenty of content. Like someone said in another post it more like Fashion Fantasy 14, where glamour is the true end game "oh look new shinnies"So what do you want then? Do you want to run around in the same gear for months while all you get is a new dungeon? or Perhaps a raid that only 1% of the server has time to finish because it requires days and days of "training" with a static?
No, I rather have plenty of content and story to follow every 3-4 months that also allows me to update my characters gear.
I'd rather have social content that isn't just about the reward but about the journey... Having to get a new set of gear each patch is just meeting a new ilvl requirement for me. I like gear as much as the next person but it's not the only reason I play. Wiping city is kinda my style of content but thats not really a journey, its more like a 24 player dungeon with more interesting/difficult bosses.
Maybe an example would be an exploratory randomly generated zone with monsters that you can explore and farm/pop difficult monsters with your large FC 8-16-24 premade groups. I literally thought diadem would be the means to this end but it kinda flopped.
I like social content but I'm honestly not asking for much, I think even the OP expressed it fairly clearly. They are not taking any big chances with content, the creativity is kinda lax. Lot of us are holding out for 4.0
I hope they revamp diadem to have RGC. It would make that open world area so much better
