SO basically if you have a canvas robe pink there is a canvas robe pink texture, and if you have a canvas robe blue you have canvas robe blue texture. ** And probably a Canvas Robe (Pink) item in the database and a Canvas Robe (blue) item in the database, but in the future there will be just Canvas Robe and the color will be a field/cell of that database item (I know canvas robe is dated and going away just using it as an example).

What they want is to have a canvas robe texture (uncolored) and then overlay the color. They weren't able to break that out code-wise yet so they put in a half-assed system which we have to suffer through until 1.20.
