Thank you for the translation Reinheart! And phew - I am glad they are changing this. It sounds very much like they will not only be changing it, but also adding more color variations. /applauds loudly
Ah, good translation Reinheart. Glad it's just a temporary thing.

Adding my support to this thread! Dye should NOT affect anything except aesthetic. If I want to dress in a certain colour, for pete's sake let me!
I love deadlines. I love the whooshing sound they make as they fly by. (Douglas Adams)
SO basically if you have a canvas robe pink there is a canvas robe pink texture, and if you have a canvas robe blue you have canvas robe blue texture. ** And probably a Canvas Robe (Pink) item in the database and a Canvas Robe (blue) item in the database, but in the future there will be just Canvas Robe and the color will be a field/cell of that database item (I know canvas robe is dated and going away just using it as an example).
What they want is to have a canvas robe texture (uncolored) and then overlay the color. They weren't able to break that out code-wise yet so they put in a half-assed system which we have to suffer through until 1.20.

No one's suffering as long as we know it's coming. I don't mind putting up with it until then.
If you have a stone in your shoe and you see a park bench 100 yards away and decide to wait until you reach the bench to take off your shoe and shake the stone out, do you not feel the stone for those 100 yards?
The current state is the current state. 1.20 does not exist to us the players. And I never would have, in my wildest imaginings, foreseen them releasing the system we currently have, so I will temper my hope that 1.20 will in fact bring the a satisfactory remedy to this current system.

Wearing a different colored gear is not equal to having a stone in your shoe. Something that affects gameplay, like the PL issue, is a stone in the shoe and should be fixed before 1.20. Different colored gear is asthetic only, just buy the best version until next patch. If you have a stone in your shoe and you see a park bench 100 yards away and decide to wait until you reach the bench to take off your shoe and shake the stone out, do you not feel the stone for those 100 yards?

I'm not saying it's fine the way it is. But it's not affecting gameplay as bigger things.

Except the worthiness of aesthetics beside stats is an issue that differs between players - for me, it's very annoying, moreso than problems with my stats.Wearing a different colored gear is not equal to having a stone in your shoe. So yes, for me, the stone in the shoe analogy is correct. it mayn't be for you, but I think people need to start realising that just because they and possibly the majority care about one thing and not another, it doesn't automatically make decisions that hurt enjoyment of the game for other people, or damage pleasant secondary elements, a good idea when an alternative that would cause less problems for everyone is available. Especially when the choice the developers made was neither properly announced nor explained.
It is going to be a bloody sod having to fart about with this system until whatever point the developers see fit to implement the system that isn't broken (and it is broken. It might not be broken for the things that you consider important, but it's certainly broken for the things I and a fair few others think matter).

The PL thing does not effect me in the slightest. I can PL someone, not PL someone, or get PL'd or not get PL'd, it's my choice as of now. I can't make someone the gear in the color they'd like, or I can't make gear for myself in the color I'd like that directly affects me more. I don't care what other people do, I care about what I can do.Wearing a different colored gear is not equal to having a stone in your shoe. Great to finally have a proper response on this. Players can finally breathe a sigh of relief, heh.
Sounds promising, and seems like we'll have a lot more color options once it's out. A shame we're stuck with this system in the meantime, but at least we have something to look forward to now, and if it does make it for 1.20 it shouldn't be too far off.
