Oh cool. I too am a dude who likes other dudes. I also recognize that belonging to one minority population doesn't mean you can't be crappy to others. If you want to be all "masc4masc" that's fine. But don't pretend like there isn't baggage attached to the phrase "emasculation of men," especially when gay men play this game. This thread began with a loaded title and a lot of loaded language. You can't say "I'm tired of all these girly men" and then act all defensive when the "girly men" get a little pissed off about it.

Nobody has ever cared about social issues ever until tumblr was invented. The decades of writings on sociology were all made up by teenagers on tumblr to push their wicked Social Justice agenda.

Why is it when a minority groups gets representation in the Entertainment Industry it gets accused of "pushing an agenda?" But when it had no representation (or is even actively discriminatory) it gets considered to be more honest with no secret motives?

Nobody's "exploiting" their identities and the "agenda" we are pushing is to treat other human beings with actual respect, and part of that involves dismantling commonly accepted notions that in reality, work against just that.

Those nephews shouldn't be passed for perpetuating toxic ideals such as "masculinity" (of which involves actively working against your own humanity by desensitizing yourself and encouraging violence and dominance over others, especially against women), if you want a real change to happen, these instances should be nipped at the bud before it even grows.

Well, for starts it tends to be only a specific subgroup of those minorities that get represented - often, ironically, the stereotypical versions. I hold the firm belief that the best representation of a minority is a character that just happens to be gay, bisexual or whatever instead of it being made into a huge deal or made overly obvious by the way that they act, dress or speak. I suppose we can pretend as though Hollywood and mainstream studios don't deliberately seek to appease minorities to score points though if you'd prefer that.

It's not a 'car crash' of a thread' given that there's plenty of thought provoking points being raised. Though we had this self-same discussion a few pages back, I believe. The OP hasn't posted for a very long time so arguing over something he said is fairly pointless - especially when it's simply being done as an attempt to get outraged. Why not simply agree to disagree with those who boast different political views on social issues? It's a discussion thread on a board devoted to an MMO - hardly the best place to be discussing such complex things in the first place. Especially since there's people from the world over from different cultures and countries with completely different societal norms and laws. It's not really anybody's job or right to force their politics on anybody else or guilt trip them for not conforming to their vision.

Yes, it was grammatically dense, and it made use of many modern terms as defined in the social justice realms of the Tumblr, but it effectively conveyed exactly what it was meant to. If it was hard for you to follow, though, I'll put it in simpler terms:

Gender norms and gender normativity are bullshit, and if saying that offends you somehow, you can get over it. You can't define someone with a single word like "masculine" or "feminine" because as societal standards, they've become completely impossible.

It doesn't offend me - it's just amusing that you - and a few other posters - seem to believe that it's the only political viewpoint that matters in regards to something incredibly complicated and far reaching. As I said, this really isn't the place for such complicated and heavy topics when there's posters from all sorts of different countries and cultures frequenting this board. Thus it makes more sense to simply agree to disagree or hold your tongue.
