Here is what the next playable Race should be...

As for the potential of Lamia as a player race, I find it unlikely as well - but not simply because Allagans made them. A lot of Allagan monsters were the results of them attempting to create their own versions of existing monsters. Synthetic Voidsent, and whatnot. It's entirely possible that they copied the Lamia shape from other existing creatures. So, there could be a Lamia race out there that is NOT Allagan in origin, but whom the Allagans used as a model for their own creations.

No, the reason that I think Lamia are unlikely (as are ANY non-humanoid race) is the simple fact that redesigning every piece of armor in the game to accommodate them would be more work than SE is willing to assign themselves (and, in the case of Lamia, figuring out how leg and foot armor works on a critter that doesn't have legs). There's also the whole issue of trying to explain why a clearly bestial race is considered to be one of the spoken races and not another variety of Beastman...

Sad but true. FFXIV would be the first MMORPG EVER when they managed to implement a playable Lamia race. I guess, the technical issues (animations, clipping, s.o.) and the remodel of any gear is quite too much work for SE. I mean, there is nothing wrong to count a not fully human race to the spoken races. But with the additon of the new Au Ra race, we got a reptilian-like race already in the game. I m still hoping for a bit deeper costumization option for each race. Maybe having some cross-races (Hyur + Elezen) or a bit more race-specific features (like the glowing Eye-ring for Au Ras). Maybe animal ears and tails for Lalafells or Au Ras with succubus-wings or Lamia-lowerbodies xD

Speaking of Padjal: They are too rare as having them as a playable race (because of lore). But maybe they add something like a head-gear with horns. Hyur + Horns = Padjal.
Speaking of Moogle: Pleaso no. I hate them. The could be a playable race, but not like having a hybrid between hyur and moogle (see first post). Except that, it would make no sense, because of lore.
Speaking of Viera: SE could add them as the last race for a longer time. Even when they still look like Hyur with bunny-ears, Au Ras arent much different as Hyur with horns and tails (and scales).

Rather having a new race, I just want a bit deeper costumization options for the current races.
