In that case sign me up! I'd love infinite sprint in cities, since I'm usually there anyways.

As far as I know the chocobo mask, moonlit(?) earrings, star-spangled subligar (1.0 FSH reward) were all 1.0 exclusive rewards up until they made them available in ARR eventually. So why not some of these?Although I think some of them were special promotions that needed a code?

Not anymore - now they just automatically double the duration for the default Sprint action when in one of the three cities. But they do also have the highest DEF and MDEF rating for any level 1 footwear in the game (+8 for both), making them useful defense wise when levelling a class from scratch.

Either way, the Onion Helm and Garlond Goggles are still attainable, you just need to track down an unopened copy of 1.0 with the relevant item voucher and redeem it on the Mogstation to do so. Hermes Shoes however are completely unattainable, given the bonus that gained them was cancelled years ago (if anything more than encouraging players to have a simultaneous FFXI and FFXIV subscription it was rather a way to get FFXI players to move on from PlayOnline and upgrade to the SE Account Management System for handling subs, seeing as to gain the Hermes Shoes you could only link your FFXIV account with an active FFXI account that had been transferred to the SE Account Management System. But I digress.

Given that there is still plenty of 1.0 gear that is still unattainable in ARR if you didn't get it in 1.0 (like the White Raven Earrings, 'dated' gear, the special Guardian rings etc), so I don't see this ever making a comeback. But hey, I've been proven wrong before!

Yes they can, I have a couple of things that are otherwise unobtainable.

I wish the Hermes sandals were at least account wide. I had a pair of them in 1.0, but when I made a new character at the launch of 2.0 on a different server (to play with friends who never played 1.0) I didn't get them. I never have gone back to check that my original pair still exists really.

For those wondering, the effect is different. In 1.0 there wasn't a 'sprint' function, though there were (I think) a few ways to increase movement speed. Hermes sandals doubled (I think) your movement speed for 30 minutes once daily.

They do to a degree. They don't give us these items, however.

Just gotta find an old 1.0 Collectors Edition! I mean I've had mine forever but it's not like new pairs ingame don't show up now and then.

I have a code for the armguards but they won't take them anymore. That's seriously lame.

As for the Shoes, we just need an XI sub crossover again!
I don't believe the Garlond GOggles was 1.0 collectors.
I have the 1.0 collectors and don't have them, I believe the onion helm was the collectors.

I think exclusive items should remain exclusive.

With this MMO, I disagree. We have items that were part of a entirely other game that got placed into this one that aren't obtainable, which people who have played this game should have a chance to obtain. This isn't like the Legacy Tattoo that rewarded the players of the past, these are low level armors that are side bonuses not intended to be all that special by comparison. We even had a Red Onion helm, and the Hermes shoes is just a gold variant of shoes already in the game. The effect itself is too ground breaking to pass up for other people and just because one was subbed to FFXIV and FFXI at 1.0 which can still happen if they allowed us to do that again.

People in this thread mention you can obtain some by hunting old codes, which is kind of silly when SE could give 2.0 players the chance to obtain these same items.

How about just some new stuff? I mean any new stuff is "exclusive" to 2.0 right? You can't use it in 1.0 so you can go back in time and wave it in the legacy players faces in the past because they can't have it. Though, if you call they "legacy" players back then they might get really worried as they don't yet know a meteor will be destroying the world soon... It might be fun to make them /panic though right?

Really though... I'm a completionist too but when I see stuff like this... It's the same with the thread about trying to get the legacy brand on your back... I mean... really? Why not something new that does some other cool thing. I mean some of these things were incentives for buying collectors editions and stuff...so at the very least, you should have to pay real money for them as the other people did. I could see how the boots might be useful but like, why not some other boots that do something similar instead? Why those *specific* boots... Why that specific tattoo... I know why. It's that completionist that isn't happy until you get 100% completion. Someone collects all the pets/glamours/achievement points they can but then they see there is stuff that isn't possible to get anymore and they *must!* have it.... Those things weren't even that great. Personally, I'd prefer SE to spend their time putting out something new that is even better... And if they were doing a tattoo, I'd rather it not be on the back in such a part of the back that you can't see it at all. If they were going to do a tattoo, I'd rather people be able to see it.... Especially if it costs real money or something.

I'll just say off the bat that I am not in the "legacy" status on my account, nor do I have any of these things. I have a character with the tattoo but it's lvl6 on on aegis and I didn't even log into it but once ever. I made a character on the NA server and just play that since 2.0
