Let us obtain Hermes' Shoes, Garlond Goggles, Asuran Armguards and other 1.0 items

I think exclusive items should remain exclusive.

These items are not just 1.0 items. They are pre-order or collectors edition exclusives. That is the major difference and the reason why they should not be re-released.

Heck, SE wont even give one of the items to a founding player who accidentally linked the wrong regioned SE account years ago... there is no hope here.

I don't believe the Garlond GOggles was 1.0 collectors.
I have the 1.0 collectors and don't have them, I believe the onion helm was the collectors.

Yes you're right. 1.0 Collectors came with the Onion Helm and the regular version came with the Garlond Goggles. I had to buy both copies of the game to get both items on my account (they're separate codes inside each box unlike with 2.0 where the items come with the main game code).

If SE had wanted to make these not an exclusive thing that was for putting up with the shit-show that was 1.0 (especially for buying the collector's edition of it, and/or for subbing to FFXI at the same time), they could have decided to make them available to everyone years ago.

I say this as someone who doesn't have these items, but instead of getting access to more 1.0 rewards let's get new stuff instead.

I linked my account with my XI account and got the Hermes Shoes during 1.0. Now when I make a new character all I get is my Onion Helm. No shoes, not sure why either. Never pursued it though, figured it's not worth wasting my time really.

Just get a Red Onion Helm if you have a tank. I would prefer for these items to stay rare as they were rare for very good reasons. For those who bought the trash fire of Final Fantasy XIII, Asuran Armlets were like a silver lining. Very similar for the Onion Helm from the 1.0 Collector's Edition. The boots were also a thank you gift for playing XI and XIV at the same time, which meant those people were dedicated enough and it was SE's way of saying "thank you" for paying for two subscriptions at once.

There are certain times when I like more glamour items to be available for all, but this is not one of those times. Some things should stay rare.

I could go and play on the chinese/korean servers and get these "exclusive" items, and you won't be able to stop me.

Chinese and Korean servers get exclusive items as their regions are completely different from what we have here. If you want to obtain those items, go play those versions (as you mentioned).

When a company starts going back on pre-order items, CE edition bonuses or other promotional events, this is where you will start having an issue. If suddenly everyone can obtain the "exclusive" items that you would have obtained from these methods, the value of the original product is diminished. Why would I pay $70 for a CE version when I can buy the standard version for $40 and simply wait it out until the bonus items are released to everyone?

And yes, if a new player was not around during a particular event, or did not take advantage of buying an item/version/whatever, I am 100% OK with them not getting the exclusive item attached. Why should they get it?

The request is simply to make them available again, not to make them available for nothing. If the boots came for subscribing to both FFXI and FFXIV before, then make it come from subscribing to both FFXI and FFXIV now. Just like they have the digital upgrades to pick up 2.0 and 3.0 Collectors Edition items, have another digital upgrade that would let us get 1.0's Collectors Edition items. If the conditions to get them are the same (or near equivalents) to what they were before, then their rarity status is preserved or restored to what it had been intended from the start.

You only answered the middle question, but I appreciate the knowledge that there are people who would deny others an experience simply so they feel special, even if they would not lose anything from it.
