So in the last weeks of the event the players that haven't been able to finish will get screwed over because there's no more active parties?

How nice of you to be so Republican with "screw them, I got mine"

The Little Ladies' Day event last year had people worrying. Some servers didn't have the manpower to turn in enough dolls. But in the last week all servers flagged it at 100% complete so everyone could do the final quest.

I'm working on my 7th weapon (out of 26, because I have two characters) and it's gonna be interesting seeing the struggle towards the tail end of the event when only a handful of players are doing fates,
Tbh I find FATEs easier to clear when I'm the only person in an area doing them.

When there's FATE trains running through an area and they start to decrease in size, you're typically left with a lot of really overleveled, takes-forever-to-kill FATE mobs in the area.

For the Yokai event, they're all tied to FATEs and FATEs get easier to beat next time if they were failed previously. So even if everyone got theirs, you aren't locked out and you can pretty much solo most FATEs at some point.

I'm glad lad it's easy for you, I don't think everyone has the willpower to watch paint dry for several days to get this event done, and don't want to risk dragging it out for a month. No one has anyone called it difficult too, it's a long, tedious, pain in the butt that reuses FATEs and RNG to the point where the Dev team is now beating a fossilized horse.

I started off expecting to get 3 weapons before the event ended. Then I noticed that the FATE spawn rates were pretty high (I haven't run FATEs consecutively in over a year so I'm not sure if this is normal or buffed for the event) so it presented an alt job leveling opportunity plus I can use the GC seals to buy moonstones for the crystal sand for the Relic.

I did a quick calc: 5 legendary medals a day on average, I can complete the set by 10 Sep with a 3-week buffer.

So while long, I'm not particularly for or against a buff in drop rate as I'm bundling a few goals together in this journey.

On a side note: it was unexpectedly nostalgic to go to the leveling areas I haven't been to in over a year and, perhaps masochistically, being aggro-ed by mobs in the level 40+ FATE areas.

For those planning to level their alt jobs beyond 45 while doing this, it might be good to order the weapons leaving the higher level FATE areas to the last 3 if you're planning to get them all. The higher exp per FATE would help a lot. I didn't think that far so I'm left with level 20 FATEs for the last 5 weapons.

The moment I saw that it takes 900 FATES to do this my eyes glazed over and I said to myself "nope, nope, nope". I have a job, a life, try to raid for 6 hours a week, cap my tomestones and yea.... don't have time for a massive grind that makes the relic look easy. I don't mind something that would take a few weeks to grind out but after doing my previous relics in 2.X, the thought of that many FATES is ... no, just no.

Honestly, this is the most embarrassing part about this event, in my opinion. Something that legitimately helps, and is more powerful takes a lot less time to get. You can 100% guarantee getting the anima weapon, from i170 (hand in Zeta, get the astral and umbral nodules), i200 (you only need the weapon on before leaving), i210 (tomes are a guaranteed drop, crafts can be purchased), i230 (tomestones again...), i240 (tomestones and scrips are guaranteed... yet again.).

It's just... not fun. You don't exactly get a reward besides glamour, and even then, not many people in the first place like the look of the weapons...

That's just the way it has been for Vanity items. Minions from dungeons had been rare drops since Brayflox, Mounts need some excessive Grinding of either Primals or FLs. Pure Glamour Items are almost always gated by crafting of the highest level and amount of stars as the amount of patches with expensive mats (and occasionally Gold Saucer).

Even regarding the Anima, what it is to the Yo-kai weapons the Tome weapons are to the Anima weapons and the Padjali weapons can be gotten even more easily.

With that said I should mention that I liked a lot of the weapons and that there is the glow in the dark Whisper Puff Jr mount and the satisfaction of getting all the achievements before they are rendered unobtainable.

Personally, I don't see a problem with the event. It has players coming back to participate in previously abandoned fates for something they're interested in, providing a more interesting experience to new comers venturing out and encountering their first fates. All the better that the event runs for two months. It took me a fraction of my Sunday to acquire all 13 minions and get the associated mount and the two weapons I was interested in, and I'm not personally fussed about actually acquiring the entire set and the mount associated with that. I don't really care for the look of most of the minions or even the two weapons I bothered to gun for, but I had a blast running fates with a few friends for a few hours to get them.

I used to try and scramble to have every single event item, but in the end I found I have a lot less stress and far more fun with a game if I simply play to have fun and stop trying to acquire everything (I imagine my lack of issues regarding inventory/retainer space is due in part to that). I don't despair from not having all the things in real life, I find more enjoyment in interacting with friends and helping others in real life, and both seem to hold true for me in Final Fantasy XIV as well. X)

This is just my opinion though, I'm by no means suggesting people don't have a right to be kerfluffled by something that kerfluffles them.

Well, I'll give you the minions one, but mounts, I can't validate. You could just do a single run of Bismarck EX and see the mount drop, and you're done. But this is a situation that is the same for EVERYONE, which means everyone is gonna have to go through some level/degree of grinding, be it 222 fates and extremely good luck, or 1000 fates and the worst luck ever. But if you obtain an item, from a duty, that's it. You're done.

Regarding crafting, gil is an option. There is no convenience option in this event. They could have made it so you can purchase legendary medals through the normal Yokai medals, or purchase the weapons directly through a certain amount of Yokai medals.
